  1. Hello everyone. I have a question regarding the DVT cab lights in the Mk 3 Arriva DVT and the Mk4 TFW DVT. I run DCC, and have Hornby decoders fitted to both DVTs (R8249). On the Mk3 DVT the cab light is always on when the DVT is travelling forwards, and off when the DVT is in reverse. This seems to be unprototypical to me, as I would expect the cab light to be on when the DVT is reversing (for Train Manager use) or better still be separately switchable on/off. does anyone else have the same issue ? Turning now to the Mk4 TFW DVT, I just cannot get the Cab Light to come on at all. Directional lights work as expected, but no function will put Cab Light on. The cab light itself does work, as I have tested it with a 9v battery - but no functions seem to turn it on either going forward or in reverse. Again, has anyone else noticed this, and is there a fix ? All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.
  2. Just looking through the 2024 Hornby catalogue, and on Page 88 - it’s back again for Q2 release. Still not available to order on website though, so will it or won’t it appear this year 🤔
  3. I have installed into a Hornby Class 66, and whilst it works fine with sound on DCC (NCE Powercab) but no sound or movement on Bluetooth. The screen shows sound file not installed - but I know it is. I have tried re-downloading the profile many times, but can’t seem to get Bluetooth to work. I have fitted in to 6 locos now, but this is the only one causing problems. I did email HORNBY about this, but no reply after a fortnight.
  4. Thanks to everyone who has responded. First of all, I can confirm that the loco runs fine with the HM7000 decoder in. All sounds work in accordance with the profile, which is the profile for Class 66 (as there is not yet one for class 59). I have been trying various combinations of the functions (F0 and F21-24). I can get different lighting effects working with various combinations, although can only get the cab light on work at one end via F23. My problem is that F0 is not providing directional lights. F0 is currently giving red lights at No.1 end when going forward with no lights at No.2 end, when reversing no lights at No.1 end, but headlights on No.2 end. I am thinking this is because Dapol seem to use 2 separate functions (one for each end of the model). F0 for one end, and F1 for the other. I would like them to work conventionally (directional white/red) on F0, but I don’t mind them being split to 2 functions as long as I can get them to work in sync with the direction. Of course F1 on the HM7000 decoder is for the sound on/off so I can’t use that, and having waded through the 130 page manual, all I can ascertain is that the decoders don’t allow remapping, although it is possible to change CV’s. So, I am open to any suggestions how I can get basic directional lights (aligned with direction), on F0, with cab lights on a separate function. Please 😊
  5. Thanks again. It is a 21 pin Hornby TXS decoder. I already assumed that the CV’s would be different for Hornby and I was hoping somebody might have already done the same thing and would know how the Hornby functions could be translated into the Dapol lighting settings. I have the 130 page Hornby manual, I was just trying to avoid having to read every page. I do appreciate all the pointers thank you.
  6. To clarify - this model is DCC ready - Dapol put the same sheet of instructions in both versions. I have simply put a HM7000 decoder in, to see if I can use that to provide sound.
  7. Good evening all. Having successfully set up Hornby HM7000 decoders in 3 Hornby locos, I decided to try one in my Dapol Class 59. I have got all The sounds working fine, but no control at all of the lighting. Has anyone done this successfully ? If so what did you do please. Dapol instructions show CV’s that need values, but most of the ones they specify are not editable (or missing) in the HM7000 CV editor. I am posting photos of both Dapol instructions and Hornby CV editor screens - can anyone help please ?
  8. Thanks everybody. It turns out that I was doing all correctly EXCEPT hitting the Enter Key, before moving to the next field. I now have 4 groups.
  9. Hi - I have created lcco groups in the past, but I can’t seem to do it any more. Has the method changed ? Is there a limit on number of groups ? If anyone can help with a click by click guide I shall be very grateful.
  10. My model has arrived, and states it is 21 pin DCC ready. I see the Hornby 21 PIN decoder is not yet available, so what are people fitting ? It looks like the decoder socket is in the tender (from instructions), so is there room for a speaker in the tender ? Are there any suitable sound decoders available now, or expected from Hornby or anywhere else ?
  11. I would like a new batch of Class 67 TTS decoders. I have 3 or 4 locos I would like them for. They still make Class 67 locos - so why no sound decoder available ?
  12. I have a couple of Hornby Class 67 locos which have a Day/Night switch on the bottom for lights. I have now fitted decoders, but whether on DC or DCC I cannot see what the Day/Night switch does ? Is it very subtle, or does it actually do nothing at all ?
  13. Thank you very much Gentlemen. As suggested by 96RAF it was matter of the light tube for the headlight being slightly displaced. Tricky little blighter to get back together, but it’s done and all working as it should. Thanks again for your help.
  14. So, I have the Hornby R2951 Wrexham & Shropshire pack (class 67 plus DVT). I have put a Hornby R8249 decoder in the DVT, which is correctly showing red lights at rear when going forwards. However, when going backwards the white headlights do not come on as one would hope, but instead an internal cab light comes on. I’m thinking I need to change some CV’s but not sure where to start (I’m still new to DCC). Alternatively is the circuit board in the DVT wired wrongly ? Any help or suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance.
