  1. TBH I'm a bit glad they didn't compound the discount. If anything else had arrived for my stash, I am sure I would have got another slapping
  2. Decided not to attend this, as the pricing at the NEC is far too expensive. I've been an exhibitor at The Gadget Show Live a couple of times there, and it wasn't that bad back then. Train and buses for me didn't work unfortunately. What I've seen of the vlogs, it was very much Rail focused, which I understand as Key know a lot of railway dealers. Disappointed to hear there were not a lot of scale model dealers as there at other shows, so I'm glad I didn't attend. May leave it a few years until it because a bit more balanced.
  3. agree its not for me, and our chums across the water would rather have a pin (badge)
  4. yeah, I got it yesterday about ten minutes after I was looking at the D-Day one on their website! Spooky!
  5. I've got 5 mini-pot 64s from my starter/gift sets. Not got the models that need them yet and they're all solid. It may be, previously said, that they need a jolly good stir! Certainly the several pots of 86 (khaki type stuff for tanks from the DDay Operation Overlord set) were solid and they took heck of a lot of stirring and drops of water to re-energise them. they were very bitty to begin with but have now settled down. The OP needs to advise if they're enamel/acrylic, pot, tin, bottle etc so we know what the situation is.
  6. Very well done there. My feeble attempt at the operation overlord set will be in no way be as good as yours but it is good practice for future dioramas πŸ™‚ You're attention to detail is phenomenal!
  7. suspect they've used the decals template for a non-PR version that didn't have the camera port. I also think the square of the fuselage colour is wrong, so I wouldn't try and keep that either.
  8. Yes, already in the plans. Drop the boss off at some shopping, drop the car back and walk over for a couple of hours, then pick her back up for lunch.
  9. We've booked Tattershall Lakes for June, and it just happens (honest I didnt know!) to be opposite RAF Coningsby It has a Spitfire in the grounds, and their bar is called "The Spitfire Bar" We've been watching youtube reviews of the park, and one you can see a typhoon coming into land, and my wife says "ooo there's a spitfire". Bless!
  10. never even heard of Men's Sheds, had to look it up. Interesting!
  11. couldn't find the stands on eModels site, you must have got the last one! However I have found them on Jadlam https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/trumpeter-9915-display-stand-model-kit/
  12. ooo the Mustang comes with a shadow stand!!
  13. Get in touch with the spares team - they may be able to send you a replacement sprue
  14. hope they dont mind me reproducing their flyer πŸ™‚
  15. Didn't spot it was a Hayne's manual. Used to have a few of those for the cars I had until I realised I wasn't a mechanic and just took it to the car doctors instead.
  16. I'm off to my first show this weekend in Hinckley
  17. I'm doing the d-day overlord diorama. It started off bad with the old mould Sherman but the Cromwell is much better. Hoping to add a bit more to the base if I have the skill. Might also see if I can replace the British troops with Us troops so its a bit more accurate. That books looks interesting, wonder if the library has it
  18. One other thing too. The kit is supplied with US vehicles, but with British soldiers. The Sherman was not used by the British on Sword or Gold beaches, but by the Americans on Omaha (well according to what I've found anyway). Looks like they've just meshed together bits they've had lying around and is no way accurate for a particular beach during Operation Overlord. So far so disappointed!
  19. I know this a few months old, but I too have started this set. I started on the first one in the instructions; the Sherman tank, and the first paint pot (86 Matt Light Olive) is also dried up. I added water to it a few drops at a time and I've resurrected it. All the other paints in the box look of a similar dried up vintage so its a bit disappointing. I guess this is just a re-boxed 75th anniversary so they've been there for at least 5 years. The Sherman tank is as far as I am aware a very old mould, and it shows. I've had to do a lot of remedial work on it to remove flash and ejection marks. The wheels for the track also had to be whittled out so the axles would fit. I'm hoping this is the worst oneπŸ™„ Its actually a skill level 3 so not exactly a starter set. I'd recommend a dry fit first so you can see where things are not lining up and need a wee bit of a shave. The paint schemas are very simplistic (a single colour for the tank and black for the tyres). There is detail on the sides of the tank such as shovels etc, so I intend to see if I can enhance the drab. I am just a starter in this too - 40+ years since I last built a model!
  20. I've just started to watch Masters of the Air and it got me wanting to shove a Flying Fortress into the Stash. They also did a documentary on the bl**dy 100 (https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/the-bloody-hundredth), which I hope I can use for reference too when I get the kit (in theory Airfix but who knows when I get to it what will be available)
  21. I've just got that too (though from a forum's for sale thread). I used my hobby points and the Spring Offer to get the D-Day Overlord Diarama for Β£20 (instead of Β£70).
