  1. Marvelous. Loco 9681 in pristine condition, a new glossy black livery and pulling 6 carriages. Sheep on the line but no fatalities! Volunteer Staff really helpful. Through lots of Woodlands and promised sight of deer and boar. Had my Purdey Pair ready for both from the carriage window, but the Mrs had left the cartridges in the car at Lydney. *sigh*
  2. Agree with Rallymatt about the 9f, no details yet but would really like one to be 'Black Prince'. Saving my pennies. Just went to the Model Railway exhibition in Birchington-on-Sea (Kent) today (run by EKMRS). It was packed out. Great to see lots of families there and the enthusiasm was palpable. Gave me lots of inspiration for my layout seeing other peeps ideas and improvisations. It didn't matter to me about model scales, just chatting to everyone made my day.
  3. Went on holiday to Norfolk last year and went through a village called 'Little Snoring'. a bit further on arrived at..... yep, you guessed it, 'Great Snoring'. I don't think there is a railway line there though, maybe wrong. My yet to be TT:120 layout might just adopt the villages' names.
  4. I can see all the buildings are now in stock and I can order. I tried to order 5 buildings but at Checkout I am being charged postage which I thought was free for orders over £50, which mine is. Querying with Customer Services.....
  5. Having read various articles it 'says he is taking a non-paid 'Consultative'' role. Open to interpretation.
  6. *Sigh*, I put in an order on 28 Feb. Just, too impatient! C'est la vie. Anyway, I was in need of the Extension Pack 2 (out of stock currently) but managed to acquire through a good Hobby Shop supplier on-line, for around the same price. I just asked if they could sell outside of a TT:120 Track Bundle they listed and they were very obliging. (I had previously messaged Hornby to ask when it would be next in stock, and they replied 'summer'). What I am trying to say is that there are Hobby Shops that still have stock for most of TT:120 for around the same prices. I have 2x Duchesses on pre-order too, though I will pay full price as I am only 34 and a half. ish.
  7. As a newbie, I am looking to complement Hornby with Peco wagons, but for accuracy, are they both compatible regarding scale? I have seen a you tube that shows that buffers on Peco wagons are very slightly higher than Hornby wagons? Is there a solution or should I stay with Hornby wagons (limited so far). Thanks for any advice.
  8. Thank you everyone for your help, much obliged! Great idea to have the siding on the inside! It'll fit my table - happy days!
  9. Hello all I have just received my first ever train set, 'The Scotsman'. For the life of me I can't find out what the dimensions are for each of the track options, from the Base Oval onwards. I have a feeling my dining room table is going to be too small. Also, with the set, there is a small plastic packet which contains, which I can only describe as, a black 'ladder', I assume this affixes to the loco, but the instruction booklet doesn't mention it. Thanks for any help.
  10. E-bay currently have a promotion every other Friday, sellers get an 80% reduction on seller fees. Not promoting E-bay, just putting it out there. Peace and love.
  11. Funny that, I got 200 points just after I cancelled a pre-order last month. Only because I had the funds to upgrade a loco pre-order to a digital version of a TT:120 which I made two weeks ago. It wasn't my birthday but if we get a small bonus on birthdays, then that is a very nice touch from Hornby.
  12. I would go with StuLarge, 'Southern Region! Merchant Navy & Battle of Britain' locos. In the shorter term, please refill out of stock TT:120 first, asap. More 'bundle' alternatives for the future. Thankly muchly.
  13. I am new to the hobby too, so the information from all contributors is very welcome. It has been a question I had in mind also, so thanks to HST Mainline for raising it and good luck with your newfound hobby. Unfortunately for me all the wagons so far available in TT:120 are out of stock for the eras I am looking at!
  14. Brew Man Season's Greetings. I got one too with my first TT:120 loco order. Not in my genre either so sold it on E-Bay for £10 plus postage. Paid for a new small frying pan which is far more useful.
  15. I am new to the hobby, I was attracted by the TT:120 range as I only have a small abode. I have purchased 2 loco's so far, nothing else, as I am on a budget and intend to build up items slowly. And that is the rub of it, I really need to Hornby to exist long enough for me to accomplish my mission! With their share price languishing at 15-16p, I am concerned that making pre-orders could, potentially, not be fulfilled if Hornby cannot survive financially. However, companies that struggle can simply issue new shares (dilution) to raise capital. Result is that share price can simply halve though. Talking of hobbies 'dying' yes, I have experienced this with my stamp collecting. I stopped collecting ages ago, tried to sell my KGVI collection and the market has bombed. Nobody is taking up the hobby anymore and the dealers have more stock than they know what to do with. Managed to finally sell to a private collector for a quarter of cat value. C'est la vie. Good luck to everyone and have a wonderful Festive Season.
  16. With the Hornby share price down to 15.2p, I wonder if we will see a 'Phase 2'!
  17. I have been very interested in starting a Table Top 120 set up, seen all the marketing etc. and purchased a Falcon A4 loco recently. This is my first adventure into the hobby. It seems that TT:120 is really taking off, but most of the items I am really after are 'out of stock', and more and more are following suit. Supply and demand problems it would appear, I suspect that Hornby were not prepared for the demand aspect. eg. Pullman coaches with lights and dining cars - you would expect Hornby would have ordered more from the manufacturers knowing full well there would be a high demand?
