I have modified the design and removed the 6" and 4.7" guns and given it 16 x 5.25s, concentrated in the aft section.Guns 9 x 16", 16 x 5.25" DP, 60 x 40mm bofors, 18 x 20mm.The G3 was an interesting ship that never sailed, although some of its features were incorporated in HMS Nelson/Rodney.You can do a lot with Airfix 1/600 kits, I wish there were more of them available. Pretty Mediocre Modeller
That's a strange design, but well executed by you. I've had a look on Wikipedia and it did exist on paper at least. Keep them coming Richard.
Kenneth ONeill
Modelling wise, congrats on the joints I can't see!Historywise IIRC Nelson and Rodney were "Washington Treaty" replacements for the G3s. Which explains a lot of the resemblances!

John Symmons
That's a great build, and congratulation on doing this little know subject, even if it is a bit "what-if" the design did actully exsist, but as Kenneth mentioned it was scuttled by the Washington Treaty. Love seeing your other convertions, I've not commented on them all, but they're all superb and just goes to show what can be achieved with these old and sometimes dodgy kits; well done, especially the County Class cruiser, it looks superb. Keep them coming.Remember we do this for fun John the Pom

Richard Welling
Thanks John for your kind words.Yes, I find it difficult to build a kit straight out of the box.I love to tinker with the design and am particularly fascinated by WW2 era flying deck or aircraft cruisers. Will post some more variations of these soon, all built out of Airfix 1/600 kits.
