finally got a reply from hornby about my 2 live steam mallard sets requiring servicing poss repair they no longer have anything to do with live steam or do not know of anyone who does.looks like im left with 2 piles of track 2 transformers a bottle and a half of steam oil 4 syrnges 2 pair of gloves [ might come usefull in the winter ] and 2 useless mallards

Have you tried googling live steam repairs or contacted the live steam club?

i could have a look at your engines if you get stuck but no doubt the live steam club are going to take on the job if hornby no longer are fixing dead engines?

Just another suggestion - The Live Steam Club display at many model railway shows, and they have a 'bring your loco along' .. They can most probably help you out and give some guidance on how to keep yopur models running nicely.

Either way - please let Gowest or the LSC get you models running again... and in the unlikely (impossible!) event that both these options fail, I'll be happy to take a look at them for you.

i think you have received some duff information if you contact Hornby I think you will find that they are still carrying out repairs to the live steam range.

I can confirm that John in the service department is still carrying out live steam repairs.
