SkyEye
Hi all,Just like quite a few of you, I have been 'Airfixing' for several years now, and have therefore amassed a large number of sprues from previous kits. Since these sprues are made from exactly the same kind of thermo-softening plastic as the parts themselves, what if these old sprues could be sent back to Airfix to be melted down, and used in the production of new kits; either in exchange for a small discount or bonus Flying Hours in the Airfix Club? Ratch
Not very practical I'm afraid as the kits are moulded in India and China. Transport costs will be prohibitive. Also, granulated styrene is of an inferior quality to virgin styrene and while a proportion could be recycled, it cannot be used alone. There is another thread on this subject, but we are unable to merge them ATM.
peebeep
The boxes are now marked with a plastic recycling logo, use local recycling to dispose of the leftover frames.
Captain Triggers
I was thinking about that a while back, maybe it could be a thing in official stockists.
derek_watson1
This would be a great idea, if manufacturing is being brought back to UK then sending back would make sense surely?

dogsbody
Hi Neil how can the spruces be dissolved? Soak it in liquid cement until it dissolves into a goop. Use that as a filler. Chris
Jackie Kennedy1707820104
Thanks Chris I’ll give that a go when I need to fill in something rather then throw them away.
