  1. This is my 1/72 BE2c finished as the example owned by the Imperial War Museum. Brush painted in vallejo with wing ribs lightly drawn on under the light final coat in pencil. Wood parts were basecoated in cream, grain was done with oils and finished with a clear orange. Rigging is that stretchy E.Z line stuff and weathering is by oils and pastels. The poor quality photos show up the superglue stains and the small gap behind the cockpit very well! It also appears that the starboard underwing skid has gone walkaboutconfused...
  2. Neither are any good for airbrushing. Use tamiya acrylics thinned with acrylic thinner. I can't remember the ratio off the top of my head. Thin until its like milk.
  3. Tried one of those squirt bottles of h14 on my S6B and it left much to be desired. Definitely needs acrylic thinner rather than water!
  4. We really need a new s6b from a major manufacturer. Wonderful aeroplane.
  5. Bare metal HAS to be shiny. No contest in my opinion!
  6. A whole Canberra? I'm still waiting on my 2/3 FD2...flushed
  7. Not a "read" as such, but Roy Cross's book of aviation including lots of lovely box art pictures is a thing of beauty and a must have for any builder of classic airfix kits.
  8. 1/32 1902 De Dietrich. First kit in nearly a year. Very excited!
  9. If you can't get anything from airfix, try finding a vacform replacement from hannants. They are usually custom designed for the kid in hand.
  10. Some 1/12 Vintage cars. They obviously sell well or italeri wouldn't be making any. Maybe a 30-98 or MG.
  11. Paint wise I'd use a can of white primer and a can of yellow.
  12. I expect that the rally cars sold well. Compare these to the prices of most 1/43 kits and you can see why!
  13. I don't have my instructions left but I'm more than happy to give pointers on here.
  14. Just too add, these 2022 releases are quite inspiring for me. I want most things on it. Unusual for me. Might turn the e type into a c type mind. R.E. aircraft carrier. Although I absolutely don't intend to offend or be rude with my earlier comment, my view still stands that there is no point complaining that it has not been tooled this year. Nothing will change that. My personal view is that the craft is still pretty early in it's development and there are nothing to say it won't be retrofitted with a catapult, especially bearing in mind the tooling cost of such a kit. I'm sure proper specs and official blueprints are kept under wraps too. I'm not saying that it shouldn't or won't be done, just there are issues that might arise and that there is no point criticising the entire 2022 range because of it. Besides, how many anson kits do you see? Be thankful for what you've got, not bitter for what you haven't. I'm sure it's day will come.grinning
  15. Ah the dodgy first coat! Normally these issues sort themselves out with a thin second coat and a good sand. Definitely put it in warm water though! Sand it now too. I had these problems too when I used to spray the primer and matt, but brush paint the rest.
  16. Well chaps and chapesses, less than a day to go, let's hope that your wishes come true!
  17. When you drop it while doing the last rigging wire...
  18. The younger people can still afford the models- younger person.
  19. Thank you so much. I will try some clear fix on my seat and if it doesn't work out I'll go and buy a bottle later
  20. Hi peeps, I'm about to start on the new Eduard 1/48 Camel and was wondering what type of superglue you would recommend I buy for gluing the Photoetch parts and the rigging as I found my rather elderly tube of it dried up (haven't built a kit since March). Up till now I have used just the tube superglue but have found it a bit "blobby". Any suggestions? Triggers.
  21. Not airfix but still the first kit in my hands since March!
  22. Wheels deffo look scalextric derived.
