What type of oil and grease should I use to maintain my Scalextric cars?

Most don't use grease. It just attracts dirt and hair. Maybe, if you are doing a long race, (like 2-3 hours or more) you might use some on the gears as it is a controlled environment and you can wipe it off after the race.

Any light plastic-safe oil is good and indeed necessary on the bushings and where any moving parts are located.
