NigC
I have a couple of Hornby Class 67 locos which have a Day/Night switch on the bottom for lights. I have now fitted decoders, but whether on DC or DCC I cannot see what the Day/Night switch does ? Is it very subtle, or does it actually do nothing at all ? Going Spare
I believe I am correct in saying that on the real railway when running during daylight, the righthand headlight is illuminated whereas for night running the lefthand headlight is on instead. The switch should replicate this change.
Howbi
I would have thought the switch becomes redundant when you fit a decoder as that would take over all the lighting functions.
LMSFan72
It’s my recollection (I have completely rewired mine) that the day/night switch does indeed switch between LH and RH headlights. However, it does it for both DC and DCC. The DCC function only controls the lights being Ona be the switch determines which one illuminates. That is why I completely required mine for DCC operation. There is an old post on here that went through the circuit to do that!
