New cars not running well .

I am fairly new to scalextric and have over the past 12 months been expanding my collection of cars and increasing the size of the track .The biggest problem I have with some of the new cars are they are not gliding that well ,they seem to be too deep .Do I need to adjust the blade by taking a small amount off it with sand paper or something ,bit baffled as most of them work perfectly well on the same track .Would very much appreciate some advice . Are you using the newer Sport track or the original version? The older tracks grove is not so deep and would affect the running of newer cars which have a deeper guide blade.

Sounds like you are using some Scalextric classic track and some of the cars have the slightly deeper guides, if this is the case you may need to trim a little off the guide if you are planning to keep your circuit or track?

Thank you for your replies ,yes the track is fairly new ,about 10 years old with the slot in connection ,and I although I have some of the old classic track I don`t use much of it . Perhaps if I adjusted the braid and trim a bit off the blade.

Could it be you are ot using Hornby cars?

Other brands have longer and deeper guide blades that do often need trimming in order to work on newer Sport track...

No,its only about 5 new ones of different makes Ninco ,Scalextric and Carrera .

Well all the non-Hornby cars will have deeper, wider guide blades that will "slow! them down.

The Carrera cars have VERY strong magnets and that will make them also much slower.

Otherwise regular car maintenance will help>
