Going Spare Posted April 18, 2023 Share Posted April 18, 2023 Princess R258 had two types of bogie wheel fitted during its life. Early versions had the all-plastic wheel S5054 (on axle S2002) and later ones were fitted with metal-tyred wheel X0735 (on axle S2336). If changing wheel type, you will need to replace the axles as well. hornbytriangspareparts.co.uk have X0735 but you will have to search the secondhand market for S5054 because of its age and rarity. Rana Temporia Posted April 18, 2023 Share Posted April 18, 2023 It’s sometimes cheaper to by a complete bogie off eBay than a single set of wheels and axles. You are not limited to this loco, any of the front bogies off early Princesses or Britannias with the same coupling will match this loco. There is an earlier shorter version with no front coupling and a version with the earlier chopper coupling. Both will also fit but are not correct for this loco.
