Alanburford9101
Hi I have an Evening Star loco where the wheels just spin with no traction at all. Is this just a case of worn tyres? Alan
LTSR_NSE
Since you mention traction tyres, is it a tender drive model? If yes: Disconnect loco from tender & then gently push loco, does it freewheel smoothly & easily? or are the wheels very stiff, or even locked up? If loco freewheels easily (but tender tyres still spin) - then yes they need replacing. If loco wheels are stiff/stuck - then this needs addressing first, (tyres may still need replacing) but you won’t know that until loco is running properly. Alanburford9101
How can I find the R number?
atom3624
Does it have a box? Is it 'tender drive' - motor in tender and actual locomotive wheels just free-running - turning as the loco is pushed along? Is it 'loco drive' - drive is direct to the 10 locomotive driving wheels? Does it have a 'pin and fingers' connection for the drawbar between the locomotive and tender - and they are easily separated? Is the tender connected to the locomotive with a metal drawbar - screw at both ends - with a 2- or 4-cable white micro plug which plugs into the tender? Al.
