roythegrass
I have a couple of DCC ready locos for which I require sound.Do they have to be fitted with a DCC decoder and a separate sound decoder or does the sound decoder also act as the DCC decoder?Roy

Chrissaf
There are a few products on the market that just provide the sounds (these are not called decoders), but by far the majority of sound decoder products the sound function and the DCC motor decoder function and lights where appropriate are all combined in the single product. The clue is in the name "Sound Decoder". For example, Hornby TTS, ESU Loksound and Zimo brands are all combined "Sound Decoders".
