roythegrass
I have a Hornby R2531 coronation class Duchess of Norfolk DCC ready. Will this have Hornby’ s 8 pin socket to accept an 8 pin sound decoder from a Hornby R3284TTS Flying Scotsman ? Thanks.RoyPS I know it’s not the correct sound but others are three times the price! Fishmanoz
Yes, it will have an 8-pin socket. Note though, it will have been manufactured on the assumption that a non-sound decoder will be used not TTS or other and the socket is most likely to be in the loco, not the tender where TTS loco decoders are mounted to give you more room for the bigger decoder and speaker with mounting. WilliamDavid
This from Hattons indicates it will be ok.http://www.hattons.co.uk/17626/Hornby_R2531_Streamlined_Coronation_Class_4_6_2_6226_Duchess_Of_Norfolk_in_LMS_Crimson/StockDetail.aspxOops yes, looks lke the loco mounted version. Can be done if you have the skills to add wires between the loco and the tender.I have a number of locos that will require adapting when the TTS decoders become available. It may be possible to fit cube speaker in that bulbous nose. roythegrass
Thanks folks.I'll not be doing this myself but didn't want to buy the decoder if the connections were not the same.Roy
