David Jones1707820337
Just a thought - some threads (aquisitions and new members in particular) are getting very long, and have run since the beginning of the forums life. Is it worth closing them off and creating new ones on a regular basis? - many other forums do that and (IMHO) it improves readability and makes navigation much, much easier
peebeep
I think it would be a good idea, personally.
Dad Paul B
I admit I tend to stop looking at threads once they get long, but you can skip to the last page right after the original post which helps if you have been following the thread. So, on balance, it might help combat thread fatigue so may be worth trying. StuartN
I agree that limiting the length of threads would make navigation a lot easier.
NWR-Gordon-4
I think these types of threads should stay as they. It shows that those threads have great intertest and support. Plus, when new members join the threads, they might want to look through the, for example, the 'What's Your Latest Acquistion?' thread and find out what current members have bought, since the thread was posted, to the present day. Kenneth ONeill
I can sort of see both sides on this one. What most fora have and Airfix lacks, is a way of selecting "first unread post" in a thread.
NWR-Gordon-4
What most fora have and Airfix lacks, is a way of selecting "first unread post" in a thread. I agee with this, Paws4thot. All of the Hornby Hobbies Forum's lack this. GNR-Gordon-
T2B
I agree that all threads should be kept long or short! But to make it easier to navigate recent posts on a long build or discussion threads should the posts not be first, rather than last? Sort of in reverse order from the current format? Kenneth ONeill
Again, it's conventional for most fora to keep posts in date+time posted ascending order.
Ratch
I disagree. I don't frequent one site that has the newest post at the top and then goes back in time.I do go to plenty that take you to the first post you have not yet read.
NWR-Gordon-4
I agree. I want to see these topics stay as they are. I love going back reading the 'What's Your Latest Acquisition' topic, despite it currently being 60 odd pages long! 😉 😆 😀 GNR-Gordon-
