Shadow.Monk
Is super glue safe for me to use on my locomotives? I would like to glue the vacuum pipes in so they are secure :) Cheers!
DBfan
Never use superglue try a dab of PVA glue. It will certainly hold the vacuum pipes in.
walkingthedog
I generally use a minute drop of super glue.
atom3624
Will you need to remove them at any stage? Sometimes, it's a help to be able to remove the vacuum pipes on steam locomotive tenders if the lid has to come off for DCC chip access, etc. Failing that, I normally use Humbrol polystyrene cement, once I'm certain the 'fit' is right. If it's really tight, but will mount properly, you may want to mount without adhesive. The son of Triangman
If you plan to sell at a future date or may want to sell, then a drop of pva is best. Also buying a spare vac pipe sprue with pipes attached and putting that in the box as per new is a good idea. The loco will be worth more than a loco fitted with the pipes etc.
walkingthedog
Heljan sell most of their loco with factory fitted bits.
WilliamDavid
I now use the gel type superglue.A small blob applied with a cocktail stick.Very controllable .
walkingthedog
Me too William. Wouldn’t recommend a cocktail stick, you might get a splinter 😆 😆
Shadow.Monk
Took the risk, everything went according to plan! :)
Fishmanoz
Easy to avoid splinters from cocktail sticks WTD, leave the sausage attached and handle from that end.
NWR-Gordon-4
I use the tinest bit of super glue too, for vaccim pipes. They need a glue, as they don’t stay in the slot on the bufferbeam sadly, without glue. GNR-Gordon-
