Hornby N2 info please

Had a look inside my N2 to see how much space available.....

....as you can see mine was already fitted with the 8 pin socket so it was a simple task to plug in a basic decoder. The Hornby TTS decoder is slightly bigger than the one shown and with it's wiring harness folded up would need most of the available space on that flat area of chassis resulting in no space for a speaker, however, there is a good size space in the cab for the speaker.....

..the one shown is known as a 'maxi tablet' and measures 15x8x12mm and is stuck to the top of the motor via Bluetac..........hope this helps........HB

Hi.

Your N2 loco looks to be pre DCC ready.

Yours has what looks like a weight block, shaped to fit inside the boiler.

This means that space is more limited, and fitting any DCC decoder will be a little more involved....

The earlier photos shew a DCC ready version, fitted with a decoder.

The weight block has been modified by Hornby on later models to take the DCC 8-pin socket, and allow some room for a decoder.
