Sailorman
Here are a few old friends .... Patrick. Beautiful liners. Are they all Airfix 1/600?They cover the historical period of "steel hulled" liners very well ..... But you can always add one more .... Olympic Class, Aquatania, Q Mary, Normandie, SS United States.....the list never ends does it That is the beauty of model building!your work on these liners is very good, I especially like the Mauritania Yes... I've already added Inependence, Normandie, Caronia, Oceanic, Ocean Monarch, Andrea Doria, Stockholm, Conte di Savoia, Maxim Gorky, Michelangelo all scratchbuilt to 1:600. Then there's the Revell United States and I'm now building the Acadamy Titanic ..... All to 1:600 of course! There must be at least another 150 up to the late 60's so there are plenty of ships for me to model!
Sailorman
Nice...but what's it doing on Dutch markings?I think they are in Czechoslovakian markings Patrick, no orange centre.Well there you go ....... pretty obvious that ships are more my thing! Benatkinsonuk
Great forum. The pandemic made me buy my first airfix kit since I was 13 (which was a Spitfire Mk1a). I'm 32 now and wanted to try make a real go of it! I bought the Dogfight doubles Mk5b and 109e in 1/48. And bought Humbrol Clear Gloss, and some weather powders...finished in a matt spray. Much of the advice I got was from this forum. So, thanks! I'm very happy with it (though I understand the mk5b didn't have the aerial wire...), but would love any pointers ahead of completing the 109e that came in the kit! /media/tinymce_upload/0b1373e90b9bca93d0bbdaaf9e2da995.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/819ca824553379ea8379e4c1ef2c4d1a.jpg/media/tinymce_upload/5963688c826cb64b3f6a6614405a4247.jpg

The original tooling dates from 1963.I finished it in Belgium Air Force markings, Bevekom Airbase, mid 1960's.This is one of a number of old tool Airfix models that I have been building during the last 10 years. Hope you like it.

Can you share a picture of some of them interspersed with Airfix kits?do you use some parts from injection molded kits for lifeboats etc. What do you make the main hull structure from? peebeep
Fabulous Titanic Patrick, those early 20th Century liners are amongst the most elegant that ever graced the seas. Sailorman
Lovely Thunderbird 1. It always seem like a brilliant idea to have an organisation called International Rescue!Yesterday I couldn't upload a photo comparing the Titanic to some other liners. I wanted to do this because I never realised she was so big. She was much bigger than Mauretania and almost as big as the QE2. No wonder her loss was made such an impression!/media/tinymce_upload/00d7a82690d568898daf55c118b0e79f.JPG
Hurricane Boy
PatrickGreat picture. Your recent Titanic model is absolutley beautiful. (Well they are all beautiful)The nice thing about modelling in a constant scale is that we get to make these comparisons.
