My three recently finished Messerschmitt Bf 109G's. Scale is 1/72, brush painted with enamels from Humbrol and Xtracolor, and a final coat of Humbrol Matt Cote.

Black 1 is the kit from AZmodel (Bf 109G-1); White 21 is Hasegawa (Bf 109G-14); Yellow 6 is Revell (Bf 109G-10).

Sorry, nothing from Airfix, though my next build will be a 1/48 Airfix Hurricane 😀

Looks like you have made a really good job of that Spitfire, well done.

But I give in on the code letters. This seems to be a special edition kit, so do the codes relate to Iron Maiden? They certainly don’t belong to any squadron that I can find for DR. If I’m reading them wrong and it’s OR, that would signify the Bomb Ballistic Unit, which could be unlikely. What do the instructions mention, if anything?

Thanks Dominic I shall check but I'd suspect they have no significance and the band went to the lengths to ensure they never diluted a real squadrons code/ensign as the singer Bruce Dickinson is a keen flyer/pilot he even went to the lengths of a mock up of multi bi plane ww1 dog fight over a festival I attended in 2014 all at his own expense was brilliant to be honest ,will post my finding shortly

Hi all,

Only the second kit I have completed since getting back into modelling after not doing one in 20+ years, well, since I was a kid. Was worried about brushing an all gloss black A/C but think it came out ok.

That 72 Sqn machine looks really impressive. Well done. Looking at the far wing, the varnish looks very smooth - which one did you use, and which make of black did you use come to that?

First go with my airbrush/media/tinymce_upload/910dfc79e298acd1deb7304fb72ba808.JPG

Careful one Bulleid Light Pacific leads to another - then you'll have all 110..

Super work!

Thank you James - not sure about the other 110 - but I'm certainly thinking of getting another Dapol kit - - Schools Class or Evening Star???

I've done the entire BofB/WC class from Hornby donor's - here's one I renamed earlier..

The Dapol kits have a plotted history (they were Airfix kits at one point), I'd go for the Schools Class next  😉

Thanks for the advice James - yours certainly looks a lot more realistic than my effort - they are my favourite Class of Steam Loco even though they were allegedly unreliable until they were rebuilt

Thanks Dominic

The gloss is the Humbrol Clear, I applied 3 thin coats and for the black it is Humbrol Enamel Gloss Black (21) which I thinned to a consistency similar to semi-skimmed milk using Enamel thinners and brushed on in a few thin coats. At the moment I'm using the Humbrol 01 Primer as base coat, seems to be working ok

That looks very good, well done. I like the shades of the desert camouflage you have used. I recently completed a P-40E with the Airfix acrylics and thought the mid stone was too yellow. Which paints did you use?

We have the same floor btw :-)
