Elsa1707822612
Dear knowledgeable communityI have recently become the custodian of a huge Scalextric set that my parents won back in the 60s in a competition and the set is much treasured by the whole family. The original cars are gone as is the original box type power source. My late brother in law - the previous custodian- has purchased a ‘power bank’ power source which has a foot which is clearly supposed to lie beneath the track and power it, but there’s nowhere for it to ‘plug in’ to the track. All the track I have is the same and there’s no special piece of track that fits onto the ‘foot’. There are plug in controllers with it.The cars look in good condition and have the metal pick up strip things at the front that I remember from my youth!Im really keen to get it going and have no idea where to start. We could make a huge track and it would be so much fun for us all. There’s so much to buy out there and I’m finding it tricky to work out what I need, just a simple solution to get it working in its most basic form. if you can offer any advice I would be immensely grateful. Thankyou. Elsa.
gorp
There are simple diagrams on line that show track wiring. There are also dealers on line that sell old parts.
Andy P.
Getting old sets up and running is a satsifying but time consuming process. There are dotons of threads on here and if you yearh in google you should find other ones as well. There is really no standard recipe to handle this at least without knowing exactly what you have... I feel that we have so much track we should use it, but I’m happy to buy new power supply, cars and controllers if needed. I’ve seen sets for around £100 but don’t know if they work with original track, and no sections of track with any kind of special fixing point. The new kits seems to come with a piece of track which I assume gets the power to the whole track. Does all track - whatever age - fit together? Your advice is gratefully received! Andy P.
Please post a picture of track so we know what type it is. There are converter tracks to connect to newer powerbases.
Elsa1707822612
Thank you all. I’m trying to post pics not getting very far!The track says 12v on it. I don’t mind if I need to buy new bits, we only want to have some nostalgic fun at family gatherings. If it is a bit hit and miss working again that is part of our original experience!Your kind advice and expertise is much appreciated, thank you. A simple solution is all we need. Many thanks again🙏🏻 Elsa

Andy P.
Pictures have to be approved and don't show up immediately.Unfortunately the pictures are too small and don't show the most important information: The track connection on the end of the track. Can you please take a picture of the top of the track with the end showing the connector (probably 2 "loops" or "spoons").Thanks

Andy P.
Those are the track that are called "Classic". There is a C8222 adapter track that will allow you to contact it with the new, modern Sport track. It looks like the powerbase has been torn apart so getting a new powerbase would be easiest (requires the adapter track)....Good luck! Ian-362656
I have track from the 70's, I'm assuming that's what you call the "classic" track & the original power box, but I don't have any triggers. Have just brought a new car and hope someone can help me get it all up and running.
Andy P.
What are your specific questions? The main decision you have to make is whether you want to get the old stuff to work with old stuff or if you want to upgrade to the newest set of power and controllers...
