DarkRedCape
I have this set on pre-order and was doing some searching on coach specs, and I noticed that two out of the five have updated pictures.https://uk.hornby.com/products/lner-coronation-observation-car-1719-era-3-r40227https://uk.hornby.com/products/lner-coronation-brake-third-kitchen-third-articulated-coach-pack-era-3-r40223I absolutely love the look of the articulated coaches. I didn't even know this kind of technology was around during that era.
atom3624
At that price, I'd hope the lamps are directional and work!Looks great nevertheless.Al.
rpjallan
I didn't even know this kind of technology was around during that era. The LNER had articulated coaches well before these. A member of my club has some he built from a kit.
Bulleidboy
Not for me, but they look very good.
Topcat2018
Of course LNER had the famous "Silver Jubilee" train of articulated coaches, named for the Silver Jubilee of King George V and hauled by one of the new A4s. Also the Yorkshire Pullman, which had open coaches with a centre aisle, that would not look out of place today. The name was revived after WW2 and was still in use in 2004.Attached is a photo of my kit-built Silver Jubilee, headed up by No 2511 Silver King. Unfortunately, until I get my new layout built I don't have a long enough length of straight track to show it in situ.

rpjallan
Good on Hornby for doing stuff like this. I think it is one positive thing they are doing. I just hope they make enough to supply everyone who wants a set...
flyingfox4475
The observation car does not need to have directional lights as the car was turned at the end of each trip.
mjb1961
I have the observation car on pre order,im not fussed about the coaches, what loco would be best suited to haul this car ?
Going Spare
Prototypically, it would have been hauled, I would think, only from the outer end where Hornby have not provided a coupling, by a small station pilot 0-6-0T or similar, to the local turntable for the car to be turned and replaced on the other end of the main train for its return journey. If the car was used post-war before the rebuilding of the 'beaver-tail' end, it is unlikely it would have retained its full Coronation train livery.
