Dominic Thomas
At long last, I’ve finished the Walrus. This a first for a number of reasons. I added a few extras (bombs from an old Hampden and an old Blenheim). I used Tamiya TS17 aluminium spray. The rigging was competed slightly differently than my usual approach. I also used aftermarket markings mainly from H Model Decals, which I thought were excellent. With that, here we have a Walrus I as flown by 715 Squadron (not Flight ?), HMS Suffolk, November 1938. I have to say that the completed kit is rather heavy. Perhaps it’s due to the fact I used almost a whole can of spray paint.

Matthias aka modelldoc Thanks to both of you. The rigging was this stuff …. I will admit to being lazy here. I have used this irrespective of the size of the aircraft, albeit they’ve all been 1/72. Also it’s a 20m reel and I’m getting to the end now, and it does seem to be a bit finer than when I started. Whatever, I do find it easy to use.

Ratch
Nice one Dominic, the Matchbox kit is a nice old kit. I built mine with some minor alterations; I used different crew figures and the decals were from generic sheets as the kit ones shattered in water.
Dominic Thomas
Thanks Ratch. I like the finish on yours, very nice.
Dominic Thomas
I have to say that the kit engine was defective in two areas. One, there was no inlet opening in the front, which I had to add with a scalpel. Two, the engine angle was not catered for in the design of the model. I didn’t do anything about that angle. Thank you for your comment. My first attempt at spraying and with a rattle can to boot. I’m happy with the results.

I understand all the fuss about airbrushing now 🤣
