Model Railway - What's your latest acquisition?

Recommended Posts

Hi WTD,

The image is upside down for me also and was when I approved it to actually appear. Is the image the correct way up when viewing on your iPad?

If so, I can look into it and see if this is an error or bug of some kind when submitting images via other devices.

It's the right way up for me Admin On my iPad.

The latest teak coaches offered only on the website and concessions. Bought the BR variant since Hornby aren't apparently rushing to reissue the LNER versions. Excellent as were the previous teaks.

But I fail to understand why Hornby do not include these and others in general sales or, for that matter, continue to offer coaches and wagons of the big four in the catalogue for some years so that newcomers can have their LNER/SR/LMS/GWR rake without a problem and allow others to add stock to their layout.

Email from Liverpool to say my R3290 is imminent, so I will be getting a call from my local shop to tell me it will be in shortly too. One of them will be getting a new identity and both will lose all that dreadful yellow paint before entering stock. I will then have six 2Hal sets (including a Bulleid 'tin' version), with kits for a further three non-motorised ones to multiple up, as yet unbuilt! Good job I will need a lot of them.

Now Hornby, how about some 4Sub sets, I will need five of them and I only have one at present?

That's what must be on the way R3290 2HAL. I see my supplier is showing one left in stock.

Yes that is the one!

I confess to ordering both the BR 2Hals from both Liverpool and Monk Bar as they are a high priority in my collection, and I don't want to miss out this time.

Hi

Today I went to the Reading Vintage toy fair, was fairly good as there was no thing new on sale (anything made after 1995 that is)

I brought a 2 6 0 Davy Crockett, its complete and in a very clean condition, going to use it with my 5 side tipping wagons as a logging train, also a Transcontinental bogie tanker and operating bogie hopper wagon.

Nice idea. Should look good.

I now have my second R3290, 2Hal, bought at Monk Bar this morning. Will get round to 1950s-ising and re-number it soon.

However they had a Revell kit for a UP 'Big Boy' on display, Oh Dear! LC&DR was so sorely tempted that he bought one. Don't tell SWMBO, I really cannot find a good excuse for buying it, other than it was there (and 'ONLY' £19-99), and I do rather like making plastic kits.

Now if only Hornby could persuade Airfix to make steam locomotive plastic kits again....

These were the latest items I have bought, they have come from an auction chucked in a biscuit tin as a job lot. Bargain for £60 inc fees etc.

Another recent prize find was this beauty for £10

It is in the right box a few were made in 1974/75 to use up stocks of spare red bodies, this one has shallow flange wheels for code 100 track from new.

Shame they don't make the Dock shunter today just as it was but with LED Lighting and a DCC socket, big hint there Hornby.
