Let's see your layouts

You could set a timetable - Brighton Belle or something, and set that going at a fixed time, then work other trains around it, using the signals.

We all have 'phases' - I know I have, and only recently rekindled my dormant passion for railways.

Layout looks really nice - a lot of effort has gone into it I can see.

Thanks Al

I have in mind to fit the 3rd rail to the two main line tracks - this will allow some other stock to be used. I am in the process (very slow process) of creating a cliff in the side of the tunnel, but other things have kept me away from the layout. BB

Paul,

Keep them coming as it develops. If what you have done so far is anything to go by, it should look amazing. Is the tunnel section able to be lifted off in an emergency. If not, you might want to consider a modification at this early stage (if it is possible). I do like the rocks.

Atom for info, in Paul's other published forum thread he is running a Pendolino at speed around his layout, now without issue (originally there was, but that issue has now been recitified). I would think that if he can now run a Pendolino without issue, then all other rolling stock should be able to be handled OK.

Hi Caiptean

The collar tie was not even connected to anything it just sat on top of the underpurlin but i did put extra struts in from the underpurlin to the strutting beam and put in another underpurlin half way between the ridge beam and the original underpurlin one each side of the roof running from gable to gable

Hi Paul

what a great layout your building .are you sure you haven’t done this before the baseboards are very professional

Can I ask what software you used To plan the track layout?

Hope to see the next stage of your layout build

....what software was used to plan the track layout?

.

Olly, I can't be 110% sure, but the 3D imagery looks very much like SCARM (Simple Computer Aided Railway Modeller). In SCARM you build the model in 2D, then the program gives you a 3D option where you can produce 3D flybys. It also allows you to run a 3D train simulation on it (animation), where you can set points and routes to follow. SCARM used to be completely free, but now the author has made it a piece of 'purchase' software. It is exceptionally good though, and has extensive track libraries for a multitude of different track manufacturers and scales. It can handle set track pieces as well as flexi-track. And as you can see in the image below, SCARM also handles gradients and multiple levels where track goes over the top of track underneath. It is also exceptionally easy to learn if you are used to computers and software.

.

This is an example of my layout design in SCARM. Only my points are 'set track' pieces. All the rest was drawn using flexi-track, including the curves. My track is Peco Electrofrog by the way.

Hi all

Well things have moved forward on my micro layout/media/tinymce_upload/d595116fd3af2cf0bd1a8c557d1a1380.jpg.

Sorry about the poor photo.

Hopefully the hill will get stuck down and blended in today.

There is a somewhat loose link to Hornby in that the track is Jouef Decauville track oh! and the telegraph pole is from the Hornby accessories pack.

Hornby now own the Jouef brand I wonder if the molds for the Decauville range still exist and it could be re booted by Hornby that is of course a very bad case of wishful thinking.

regards John
