Yelrow
WTD, morning, i am totally calm, as normal, just trying for a definate answer. What does not help, is not getting one. If nothing can be, or will not be done in the future, thats fine. 3/4 of us have asked if a refinement can be made, to make life easier. These new locos, are superb, have great features, which would be more easily enjoyed, by a slight modification, to the way we use the sounds. Rm, i feel is a great system, but if tweaked, would bring more enjoyment.. After all, so many new locos are about to come on the market with 18 sounds, (20 ) in case of Graskie, that even more could/would be sold, if this were to be done. It may be a hornby Marketing question, rather than an HRMS. There is a difference between us playing/ running trains, and what HRMS think we need. The more flexible the system, the greater the sales. I think it helps, sorry, to be a pain. john
PJ_model_trains
Hello JohnI understand the wanting an answer situation but to be honest, I don't think you will get one at this time.HRMS have a lot on there plate at present and must get signalling and other issues straight before Loco Detection. Plus thrird party decoders, etc, etc.As you mentioned above 'After all, so many new locos are about to come on the market with 18 sounds' maybe when they have come on the market and more people ask then maybe they will re-consider.I know it is nice to have every sound in front of you but, can you not choose 6 favourites for each? I would love to see every train in front of me in RM but I can't do that either. Sorry John.PJ
96RAF
The main problem John is that although the Select can be used with RM via an Elite picky-back cable, no matter how many functions RM can show on screen in whichever popup you can afford to access (RM-PRO or RM-AM) the Select will still not be able to select them, due to its design limitations. The only recourse in that event is a mouse over screen method - not what you are looking for.Used on its own the Select is unfortunately severely limited when it comes to controlling sound locos. walkingthedog
Much the same as DCC sound on DC. Automatically makes the sound of being stationary, starting off with whistle, speeding up and cruising along. Different whistle when starting off in reverse. Yelrow
PJ, hi, think your priorities are different to most of us, who i am sure would rather make use of the full facilities of their locos, having bought them. Loco rec, is so far down the line, similarly 3rd party decoders, and signalling, very specialised. I really think that the Marketing guys, need an input into this, TTS, is a big big break through, its not asking a lot, for a tittle tweaking. john RAF, I think select is reaching the end of its road, as controller, but has good hand held application as part of Elite. You take your child out to buy a £150 loco, using select, and then find another purchase is necessary, to use the sounds ???. john
Cronan
Can you use the keyboard I've put it in the desirable section. I don't know why they don't have a list of 25 functions listed separately on the screen like down one side it would seem more logical unless you can I have my E-link unplugged and my pc moved back into lounge so haven't been able to experiment. It would be good if you can change the size of the window.
PJ_model_trains
Hello JohnI understand what you are saying and have to give you full credit, you are fighting your corner well.TTS is, as you say, a big break through, I can't wait for the next delivery asI had to miss out to get signals! I wonder if they are thinking Twin Track sound and not choice of sounds, you are limited to how many sounds at one time. I know you want the full list so that you can pick any item at any time.Good luck JohnPJ
Graskie
As I showed in one of the other threads, Hornby's own R2997XS loco 34040 "Crewkerne" has 18 functions. It's very difficult to restrict such a large number of choices to just 6 on the small loco boxes, hence I rarely find the right hand boxes of much use, unless I want to operate several locos simultaneously, with the 6 function restrictions of that. Some sort of improvement is definitely necessary for more and more modellers switching to sound. Interesting to note that the new Pro RM programme caters for 2 large loco boxes. At least that is a bit better and for this reason alone, I might just update to that.Did I say I had a loco with only 20 functions? I have a Hornby loco R2310 35016 "Elders Fyffes" fitted with as many as 27 functions!

PJ_model_trains
No problem JohnI will be joining the choir soon. TTS Harmony to add to my other two sound locos. (Please don't ask what Region it runs on)I think HRMS will listen in time (not because you don't shut up LOL) but, at present think they have a lot on.PJ

PJ_model_trains
Hi GraskieI hope you don't have them in a public place, like your home when you have visitors.52 that is excellent and a good starting point ;-)Just wait till you have signals LOLPJ
Graskie
If we're both still about, I'll have to refer to you on signals operation, PJ.
Graskie
Where's the edit facility gone? I was just going to add that I've got to sort out computerising my pointwork first. It had practically already been fitted with motors fixed underneath, but they haven't been electrically stimulated since I changed from my DC system to DCC, unlike me. Hi Graskie I reported the missing edit feature last night, we can't edit and the Return button doesn't add spaces between paragraphs. PJ
