LCDR
I have a number of the Triang Princesses in black, green and red, but I think I will wait for the Princess Coronations, which I much prefer. Hopefully Hornby will bring one out in blue with the sloping smokebox top. My Boys Book of Trains, I had as a kid, had a picture of one in that condition on the cover and it made quite an impression on me. My 3 rail Hornby Dublo collection includes Duchess of Athol (LMS red), Duchess of Montrose (BR green), and a City of Liverpool repainted as Duchess of Hamilton (BR red) but I still do not have a blue one! Fazy
Didn't bR change the Blue shade while the blue was being used. so you could have at least two.
LCDR
There were a number of shade variations originally, but they settled on a shade not far removed from Caledonian Blue with black and white lining. The LMS had experimented with blue/grey before nationalisation, just add a further variation. One of thge varieties was a purple blue shade, although I don't know for certain if the Midland Region used that.

walkingthedog
Ah I thought for some reason he was referring to the GWR loco which I thought was odd, but that is even odder, 4 years old.
