  1. Thank you WD but I only initiated the survey on this forum. If indeed Hornby did monitor this thread and reacted to it I would be very pleased! I have not updated they survey due to health and other more important activities but will produce an update reflecting the announced availability. One thing I did think about especially was that the TTS Castles - and other TTS locos - were due for release but then 'postponed' as a result of Hornby's financial difficulties . Hornby, as someone suggested, has built up a store of TTS modules and I think this may be that the modules needed to be made before they could be supplied to the factory that was going to assemble the 'postponed' locos before they were actually needed. With the indefinite postponement they now have stock available for stand alone sale. My advice to others is do what WD has done and preorder as I believe they will go fast. Trade first and then ebay speculators. So perhaps I shall do the same!
  2. I guess that I will have to change my LD sweep date to the Sunday of Warley 2017!
  3. From a Hornby email 12 hours ago part of duplicate posting held for moderation as it contains the pic from the email: Sounds fantastic - TTS Sound Decoders In response to your requests, we're pleased to announce that we will be releasing stand-alone TTS sound decoders from summer 2017. Retailing at £39.99, the decoders will be available for ten different locomotives: - steam A3, A4, Tornado, King Class, Castle Class - diesel Class 31, 37, 47, 60 and 67. Look out for further detail in a future edition of The Engine Shed.

Okay apologies for my immaturity to anyone offended. I am so pleased at this announcement from Hornby. Am looking forward to fitting my three Castles with sound.
  5. I still reckon Warley for the Loco Detection sweep. Now for the real purpose of this post. Met with fishy for morning tea/late breakfast. Doesn't look anything like a fish but still good to meet.
  6. Hey Fish, we could come down the hill to have morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea/dinner!
  7. There is a bloke on on you-tube who sells the kit and shows how to do work it. On the video he gives his contact information https://www.youtube.com/watch v=yyyPKCHa0gQ
  8. Re the LMS G2. Coal rails right side (looking forward) only.
  9. R2899XS Class 60 Hundred of Hoo. Absolutely nothing to do with pre-nationalisation but guaranteed to pull a CMX track cleaner. /media/tinymce_upload/5dbccabd9cef73b4ed9b397fe10d9bc9.jpg Non-Hornby, besides a growing collection of N-gauge, an LMS G2 as new. /media/tinymce_upload/e884d14d8e8965183372f7d3922981d2.jpg
  10. When the survey hits 100 in one of the catagories I will be sure to send the results to Hornby under the Product suggestion heading unless I die first. 😛 Keep the requests coming in.
  11. I have obtained a Class 60 the Hundred of Hoo (the XS model) to pull my CMX wagon. A bit over the top especially as I collect pre-nationalisation steam but I was impressed by the sound in a friend's model. Looking forward to it arriving.
  12. Another R1184 Western Express Train Set so I can pull out the TTS module and fit it to my R3105 Castle 'Wellington 5075'. It may not match the Clun Castle that passed through my hands but after the TTS cancellations (including a Castle) it will be close enough. The decision was made after an Aussie bought a heap of R1184 sets to fit into a diverse set of GWR locos (see the first of five recent entries in the Survey - Hornby please provide TTS Kits
  13. For those TTS only models that have been released, announced or withdrawn - 29 (+1) For models released with XS but also released, announced or withdrawn - 9 (+1) For models previously released with XS but no TTS to date - 3 (+1) Wish List - 37 over 23+ different models. If any of these have in fact have had an XS or TTS model and not placed in the appropriate list please let me know. I will continue to summarise every so often while requests come in until I drop dead or give up waiting.

  18. It's been two months since the last summary and only a few additions which I will post shortly. Since then I have come across a fella in Australia who bought a number of R1184s from Hattons and has pulled out the TTS modules and installed them into "...several Hall class Hornby locomotives, plus a Castle and several 2800 class locomotives. Most share the same tender body which does entail a little cramming to get everything inside without altering the bunker. A worthwhile conversion which apart from modifying the stock tender weight to sit better over the speaker, does give a pleasing result. Particularly enhances the 28XX class locomotives as the small drive wheels and low gearing suit the chuff rate at typical low goods loco speeds. The 2800 class enables a reliable 4 beats per revolution at low speeds...." I have bought one more R1184 from Hattons which arrived today and intend to place the module into R3105 Castle 'Wellington 5075'.
  19. The fifth LNER CCT R6682D, LMS Horse Boxes R6727, R6727A, R6678A and a spare copy of RailMaster. All from the Hattons sale. @Gordonvale if you see this I think I can beat your 68 hrs Brisbane to Gordonvale. Cairns to Mareeba 79.5 hrs.
  20. R2918 GWR 2-8-0 Class 38XX '3803' & R2916 GWR 2-8-0 Class 2800 '2812' /media/tinymce_upload/501fb9160427a247e2dcadd3080dc0fc.JPG
  21. My best Fathers' Day was last September (Australia) when I ran a few of my sound locos on a large-ish HO American layout.
  22. WTD I advise your layout staff strike on Christmas and Fathers' Days so that those trains don't run and therefore cannot be seen! 😛
  23. Been busy the last couple of days. Two more transplants. One easy the other more complicated but working in the end. LMS steam sound on the practice layout. Hornby R3459TTS and R3460TTS chassis with an 11 year old body R2099A LMS 2P '579' on one and a five year old on another R3030 LMS 4F '4316'. http://vid12.photobucket.com/albums/a237/ex_kuranda_railway/LMS%20Steam_zpslqh7voem.mp4 Also, R3488 Diesel Freight Train Pack. Yeh, yeh I know it's RailRoad and it's in maroon but I've got an LMS diesel shunter to chip.
  24. I can be specific about transplanting two of the latest TTS models. The 2P and 4F. R3460TTS BR 0-6-0 Fowler 4F in Late BR was a straight body swap with R3030 LMS '4312'. They are definitely the same tooling. First and third screw in base plate holds the chassis to body. Needed much see-sawing of chassis ends to remove body. The tender is also a straight body swap. The only modification on the newer model is two posts in the 4 and 10 position (12 is the draw bar) to which a speaker plate and bracket are screwed to separate the speaker from the ventral weight. DCC sockets are mounted the same in both models. R3559TTS BR 4-4-0 Fowler 2P in Early BR fitting to R2099A. There are some problems with straight body swaps between the 16 year old R2099 and model and models made since 2011 which have a revised chassis for the loco mounted motor. Tender: It was a straight body swap from the R2099A model to new model but the reverse fitting has interference with the weight blocks either side of the ringfield motor so that the body is not flush with the frame. I am investigating this further. The new tender has the same arrangement as the 4F and I'm guessing that the tenders are the same on both the R3459 and R3460 TTS models both being Fowler tenders. Loco: A straight body swap again from new to old the chassis. The bottom of the new boiler barrels have also been shortened by approx. 10.8mm to accomodate the revised chassis that carries the motor. This plastic had to be ground away from the old body to fit onto the new chassis. The new model body also has an approx. 15g weight screwed into the smoke box. I will look at fitting a 15g weight into the older LMS body. The new model's pony truck picks up power so this is an incidental upgrade to my old 2P model. I will post something about my two upgraded models in the Latest Acquisition thread soon.
