  1. Merchant Navy valvegear has always been a very fragile set up, that's why new spares are usually sold out and second hand ones are rare and expensive.
  2. Thanks Chris, thats a bit sneaky! What would this be used for?.
  3. Would a C990 power supply 16v 800mA be OK to use?.
  4. I was hoping this gadget would be plug and play, this has put me off.
  5. All the above are well known problems, along with Clan Line bogie blocks and T9 motor mounts. I am sure there are others. Hornby have no spares for any of these.
  6. This is a design fault with this loco, I have fixed my two by inserting plasticard shims under the back of the motor, lifting it up and thereby lowering the worm to make contact with the drive gears. Just hope you don't have one of the ones that gets mazac rot of the motor cradle.
  7. Look after it they go for silly money these days, around £300!.
  8. I've got a few, they are comparable to the Hornby coaches of the time, very nice. /media/tinymce_upload/269a9427830aa576e7c5f721b1da2507.JPG
  9. There's a heavy rock song about steam trains, "Princess of the night" by Saxon.
  10. The 14xx doesn't use the the hex head screws, it uses round headed push in rivets/pins. As was the Bachmann, it's pins must have been pushed in with a press they were so tight.
  11. i've got hold of some Markin traction tyres, are there any tips or tricks to removing the con rod to fit them? I tried similar on an old Bachmann loco the other day and only managed to snap the head off the pin.
  12. Sad that Hornby seem not to bother holding spares, even for current production models. At the prices they expect us pay these days we should be having a far better service to keep our expensive loco's running.
  13. Going to be a bit of a tailchaser with the paltry amount of track supplied.
