  1. just bought 13 hornby skaledale models ,second hand but described as very good/nr mint condition ,wife can't believe I spent £275.00 on them .
  2. have you had a look on 'Free Track Plans ',loads on there, just google it,also go for 2nd and 3rd radius minimum, come back if you don't find anything on there and we will help.
  3. Everything has gone up, gas, electric, fuel, food, not just Hornby. Last year when Hornby announced a rise in cost, I think it was due to shipping charges going through the roof, don't know about any other price increase, maybe raw materials. It's something we are going to have to live with, I don't think many retailers are going to be discounting like they used to, maybe if you predominantly buy Hornby then joining the club would be a good thing. I don't think the prices are going to come down, this is it, the high prices are here to stay.
  4. Amanda,,lets say you pre order 2 items ,1 comes into stock February and the other 1 comes into stock in November, would you be prepared to wait that long?
  5. the simplest way to avoid multiple postage charges is to order £50 of goods each time .grinning
  6. hi ,,,I would also say the answer is yes but I do believe the wheel flanges are a bit bigger on the older stuff such as your dads Dublo and they ride upon the rail chairs ,hope that all make sense, anyway im no expert but im sure I've read about this problem numerous times,im sure someone who knows for certain will be along soon, hope this has been some help.
  7. Hi,,,browsing the shop section of this website I came across this loco for sale. I've never seen one before and it looks quite nice, something different and a bit steam punk, ish to medium thinking of getting one just because its different to most that we brits probably buy, anyone else got one, are they any good...mjb
  8. hi,,do you use Facebook,if you do or someone on your behalf you can join various model railway groups including model railways for sale ,you can advertise everything a bit at a time and you ask the price that you want, it is also very safe ,you can ask for payments via PayPal only, you can charge for postage and there are not any fees.
  9. Hi,,,, On the end of the R number there is the 'SS'suffix, I believe that stands for Steam and Sound, I think it does require DCC.
  10. They are models, toys are for kids to play with, you wouldn't let a kid play with a model train costing £250 plus surely.
  11. I think the discount codes you receive are to tease you and to spend more ,those of you who feel its a bit late after you've preordered I can only suggest you re preorder with your codes and cancel the previous ones,im not a club member and have preordered £640 worth of goods, if I receive a discount code I may just do as I have suggested.
  12. hi.ive had a pre order with rails .ordered it nov 18,£30.00 deposit, every time I ask them for an update they tell me when they are expecting it but it is always in the following Quarter of the one they told me before ,I know covid has not helped and like everyone else I have just got to sit and wait, also I've had the Hornby hush hush on pre order, it was due in dec 20,then it was spring 21 now they state autumn 21.,I can't help but feel disheartened because of it ,you get yourself worked up and then you find out its going to be later than expected.
  13. Try a 4 digit address,I'm sure I had the same problem with my TTS locos and this seemed to have worked for me.
  14. Another thing about jadlam ,I had the email today as well ,it states the centenary merchant navy r3824 on offer for £169.99 and only a few left but if you look on eBay they have them for £224.99 and more than 10 in stock ,a bit of deception going on I think .
  15. I know of jadlam and have purchased from them in the past with no problems whatsoever and I totally agree that you should of been sent your item for the agreed price ,but I think that at the time of ordering and being a pre order therefore none in stock I bet jadlam would use that as a get out clause even though you paid up front in full ,hope this makes sense .
  16. Feeling sad ,I was hoping the Hush Hush would be in stock and delivered by christmas,I've just seen the latest expected date of spring 2021 😢
  17. Hi Anthony, love to see your train and motorbike collection ,any chance of a couple of photos,,,martin
  18. Ordered mine from jadlam ,due to be delivered on Monday ,mine will probably live in its box .
  19. Hi ,managed to use the voucher ,it's my eyesight,I was reading a letter 'I' as a number 1 .mjb
  20. Hi Vespa,,how did you use your voucher from Capt Tom ,did you phone Hornby or online because I tried to use it online and it just said it was invalid.,,mjb
  21. Hi,it could be the decoder itself,to rule out the select try re programming one of the other trains ,also if not to much trouble swap round decoders ,that way you should be able to narrow down to the problem.
  22. If are following hornbys instructions then you have to remove them and anything else ,there is another version by one of the members on this forum which means you don't have to remove the contacts etc ,,,someone will no doubt put up a link for you .
  23. They shouldn't open them ,not for any reason,It would ruin the whole experience of receiving something for me as well, there is one retailer on the south coast who states that he checks and tests all LOCOS prior to dispatch, you can request not to have done but I feel it sounds like he won't except a return if the loco is faulty .
  24. Mine has just been delivered ,first email said Monday then I had another saying today ,very nice loco ,nothing special other than being named captain tom and the livery ,but there are a couple of let say ' gifts ' inside the box ,I won't say what ,I'll leave it as a surprise.
