  1. Try phoning them. I know it is a nuisance but it should pay off as nobody else can order as the item is a sellout and yours should be secured. I've better things to do. Sounds as if I don't care, not the case, but I believe Hornby actually said any "cancelled" orders would be passed down the line to a reserve list of others who were too late to get the "limited" edition. Add your name to the reserve list !,you might end up getting one . PS ,and yes I do know about the blue button .
  2. Hi,,I had this problem back in May with the rocket ,like Colin B the card was valid but the website was playing up ,anyway this time for the captain Tom the email says it is in the warehouse,on the Hornby website it says in process and my bank account shows the payment is accounted for so hopefully there won't be any problems, all I can say Andy is keep on phoning them ,today is the 6th so you have got plenty of time ,don't rely on the email you sent ,I know it's frustrating but keep trying,if you can,get on the phone first thing in the morning as soon as they open ,good luck ,
  3. Hi,,,what about just useing a 3volt PSU,would that work? and perhaps save all the faffing around with resistors,I personally use good old straight forward 12v candesant bulb street lights and building lights via a 12volt PSU,I have also added a 12volt dimmer switch ( £1.64 from China ),I know you will say that LEDs last longer ,use less power etc but ive had these for a good number of years and they are still going strong today ( bought from China @25 street lights for £16.00 ),on the stations I have some BRAWA 12volt lights with pin sockets ,mjb
  4. Hi,,it can be disheartining especialy when you buy new but don't give up ,chase up on the repairs or replace of your locos then check everything is good with your track etc ,new track would be best ,points need an extra pin in the centre to ensure they are flat ,that normally solves the stopping on points problem ,track needs to be clean ,even more clean for dcc ,I clean my track a lot ,methylated spirits on a cloth ,usually an old t shirt ,I hardly ever clean the loco wheels ,( other members will tell you about the importance of clean wheels ) forget about scenery for the moment ,make sure your trains are running nicely first ,the basis of a good layout is a good baseboard and good reliable track laying ,,hope this helps .
  5. Brendan cross,,,,send it back or cancel it and then buy a new one !
  6. Hi,,,this is a regular question,,although you have fixed down the track the points are probably not entirely flat, drill a small hole in the centre of the points and fix it down useing the same pins you have been useing, and on top of that make sure the track is clean and the wheels are clean ,hope this helps,,mjb
  7. Arrived today ,the 'Hornby Dublo Train Set',lovely looking box and the contents arent bad either ,like a lot of my stuff it won't get used ,I've opened it ,had a peep ,put it back in the box ,,I was tempted for a few days and temptation won ,hoping to get the Rovex Train Set when it's released,,has anyone else purchased the Hornby Dublo set ?? .
  8. Although you've sort of fixed the problem most people including me now add an extra track pin to the centre area of the points ,this makes them flat which seemed to have solved a lot of derailing.
  9. Hi,,,,if you convert the TT using hornby,s method the bridge is live which will allow your sound locos to drive onto the bridge with the sound on and stay on ,but, the sound will switch off at a certain point as you revolve the TT 360 deg this is because the TT,s polarity changes ,,hope this helps ,,mjb
  10. Sorry Chris ,,,I do know that it's hornby but for some reason I wrote mods ,,,it won't happen again !! 😎
  11. Hi Keith ,,,,when the mods have approved the photo the reply I posted last night will show you a halt that I have created out of spare materials I had ,IE ,,platform made from mdf ,hillside made from insulation board and paper mache, the picture isn't that clear but hopefully you can see what I've done ,,,mjb,
  12. /media/tinymce_upload/e28fd46be88a60bffd5fbda438e972f7.jpgHi keihtp ,I did exactly that ,in one corner I built up a small hillside out of 1" insulation board I had ,basically cut three triangles ( sort of ) ,each one smaller than the other, stacked them up and glued them down and then covered the whole thing in paper soaked in pva, once dried I painted it green and then covered it with grass scatter, added some bare rock by way of using filler and sticking some stones from the garden to the filler ,painted them grey and then rushed over them with a brush with a very little amount of black paint ,almost a dry brush ,then once ready added a few bushes and some trees ,looks great ,and then in the front I put in the halt ,that is all ready and waiting for the wayside halt from skaledale to arrive ( tomorrow) ,the halt has a couple of working lampposts fitted in readiness
  13. The troublesome curved points ,,the posts on here are usually to do with Hornbys curved points but I suppose the peco version could be just as bad ,these curved points are notorious for derailing locos ,,,,,mjb
  14. Hi,,,being a 13 year old I would get the elink from your aunts and go digital from the start ,no messing about with insulated fishplates ,extra controllers and hooked up to a computer with railmaster you will love it ..
  15. Hi,,,,usually with these TTS locos that are jerky ,usually on starting off and coming to a halt you have to alter the cv settings, somewhere in the instructions there is a section about changing the algorithm,in my experience it doesn't necessarily work .The only thing that I can't comment on is why it was running fine but now it isn't,with dcc make sure that track and wheels are kept clean ,,,hope this helps ,,mjb
  16. Hi,,,,glad to hear you got it sorted ,sounds like you went a bit to tight with the flexi track ,I can't get on with it so I reverted to hornby set track .
  17. Hi ,,,isn't there anyone in the uk who could order it for you and post it to you ,would only be a tenner I bet .
  18. Just been onto the website and pre ordered one ,at 08.00 this morning I went onto the website and it stated LTD 1500 and sold out ,now 2020 and available,,like one of the other members on here ,it's not my era but have bought one as a keepsake.
  19. The top of the range teak coaches that hornby make ,LNER / BR are beautiful but lack one thing ,,interior lighting ,but of the period,,,nice low Amber lighting of the early days would be a nice feature.
  20. How about a new turntable ,a proper well type and dcc ready ,,the hornby one that we all know is well out of date and should be retired .
  21. Hi jimbopuff,,,,I usually buy street lights from ' wehonest 'in China ,they are 12vand can be a bit bright for my liking so I use a 12v dimmer switch @ £1.64 from China ,works very well...
  22. if I'm understanding the idea from Buz I would go with that ,unscrew the top and turn it over ,then screw it down ,could cure the warp.
  23. Thankyou LC, probably sell them if they are worth anything, they aren't any use to me .
