  1. The Osprey is part of the limited Sir Nigel Gresley sets , I have that set and Osprey is very nice, but with reference to curved points I would suggest not having them on your layout, hornby anyway,i cannot comment on Peco because I have never used them..
  2. @Deem,,,,ive seen many suggestions to repair or make the broken part and even myself at 62 years old and a lifetime of engineering experience would have difficulty in doing such a thing due to eyesight etc, so if I were you I would send it off to be repaired ,maybe hornby,if not them there must be someone on here who knows someone, hope you get it sorted .
  3. What is the R number of the D O S ,when you say broken ,is it actually broken or just bent ,remember other Duchess class locos built in the same period would share the same valve gear, could you give us a photo to see exactly what is the problem.
  4. Im not a club member so can't order one even if they were available so I will have to buy one off Ebay because I really would like this model,or if anyone on here wants to sell there's im willing to pay a handsome price, grinning and yes mods I know all about the rules about selling,,grinninggrinning, sorry in advance.
  5. does it have the same issues in both directions or just the one .
  6. Try just the loco without the tender, does it short out the controller, then just the tender, does it short out , if both of the above is ok then couple the loco and tender together ,does it short out, if yes,,then take a look at the connection between them.
  7. I have a feeling they have plastic tenders,i mentioned this in an earlier post and Fazy said why waste the loco power to pull a metal tender but I still think it is a cheapskate way of producing something ,I have 4 Dapol black label A4s ,all diecast loco and tender bodies and you can feel the quality which is what you want to feel at the price of the item and im sure you won't get the same feeling with a diecast loco and a plastic tender.
  8. Hi Vespa,,sorry to hear of your experience with ups and locomotion models, when your mallard has arrived at there shop I would again phone them and if you get through ask them to refund your postage as well.
  9. I had that initial thought P Henry but a DC train will run on DCC won't it, although not advisable.
  10. Have seen on the SVR Facebook page that Taw Valley is going to be repainted next year from the Purple to War Time Black.
  11. I have also listed my collection via a spread sheet on the laptop and add to it every time I purchase something new, along side the locos etc I have inserted a realistic selling price ,surprisingly its around £14500.00,it makes me think about selling it all to buy myself a Jag.
  12. I don't know the answer to your question but what I do know is if a retailer sells other train manufacturers products, that is classed as competition ,so the lower down the supply chain they are.
  13. Im not put off by the price even though they have jumped up @£50 compared to the other models in the Hornby Dublo range but I am sure that the previous models had a diecast loco body but the tender was plastic which I think is just a cheapskate way of producing something,i might be wrong so correct me if I am other wise I think they would be a nice model to have.
  14. Doesn't actually answer your question,,sounds like he would make a good politican.
  15. I received an item from rails of Sheffield in march this year that I had pre ordered in September 2018,three and a half years!!
  16. How big is your layout tootsiwebb24..
  17. Atom ,the photo is a stock photo and not a photo of his model, like I said if its got a 4 pin plug then it is not the original loco for the set.
  18. Hi,,I had this set some years ago and although it was a dcc fitted loco I am absolutely sure it did not have a 4 pin plug that you are talking about, if you have a close look at the stock photo you have posted you can't see any wire so someone has either done some modifications or swapped a chassis ,perhaps you could post a photo of your loco for us to see.
  19. Thanks Bullied for letting me know ,I had no idea so now I know.
  20. thanks Colin, however the over inflated price as you put it seems to be the average price that we all will have to get used to,i don't know what others think but that is now my honest opinion.
  21. thanks,,I know some have different size water capacity in the tenders ,could that be it .
  22. they all look the same to me ,merchant navy, west country and Battle of Britain, maybe you could point out the differences .
  23. Mine arrived on Tuesday ,a hornby pre order, but I was on holiday and only got to view it yesterday, although I bought it to collect and not run I have gone a bit further than some and have actually removed it carefully from the entire packaging to inspect it and make sure nothing as fallen off and can say its all in tact.Although its a lovely model it is only an ordinary rebuilt merchant navy with the added extra bit of details, also i think this model would have sold well if it was offered with the gold plated parts like the centenary version.
