Yes; I was thinking that there's probably a Falcon vacform set (looks pricey but contains 12 canopies for different types).

Cheers Patrick. Based on the catalogue page, I'd suggest that the tooling is actually MPC and 1/25 scale. I don't recognise the Ford J itself, but the Toyota 2000GT convertible, the Aston Martin DB5, the Monkeemobile and the surf Ford Woodie were all licenced MPC tools. I think the 3 "muscle cars" were as well.
-
I'd also not be surprised to find an aftermarket "conversion set" for the beer runner. After all, it only needs the "JR" suffix to the id code, new serials, and a couple of beer casks. (presuming the kit includes wing bomb racks)

Exactly so Rod; part of the issue is that we only really see display/museum painted warbirds these days.

Have you tried Amazon or E-bay?
-
OK, not Airfix kit(s yet), but there are several EH (aka AW) 101 models available.
-
Destiny, Rhapsody, Symphony, Melody and Harmony.

A new tool Skyraider (Spad), with 5" rockets and a suitable colour scheme.
-
Well, for what it's worth, the roof of the SRN4 kit was specifically designed to be removable.
-
My, there's lovely for you.
-
That would be because the Phantom II (all variants in model form) has its CoG forward of the main wheels, so it doesn't need nose weighting. That said, there's some good advice here for types that do.
-
Could try Hobby Link Japan website maybe?
-
Nice build; as you imply the model is "wargames standard", in particular the external fuel tanks should be 2 on one side and one on the other but I didn't know that back in the 1970s.
-
Memory says H11 "silver fox", H14 "French blue", H33 "matt black", and maybe dark brown and flesh for the pilot.
-
I looked in all the usual places (websites!) for the Airfix one, but to no avail. If you can remember, which shade of blue did you use? It looks very close to the colour/tone that I remember from seeing the 'real' thing in my childhood when it was an exhibit on Southampton Pier. And your excellent model has inspired me to get cracking on it fairly soon. Thanks for sharing.
The Airfix destructions say H14 "French Blue", and I've never seen a colour photo of an S6-B.

White Sidcots would be plausible from the formation of the RAF up to the Battle of Britain I think.
-
You're old enough to have served on vehicles with Cullen cutters fitted!!?
-
Agreed - 2 sets of one pair of wing parts and none of the other pair is clearly a packing error, and not one that will show up by techniques like box weight either.
-
I can't see an "embarrassed" emoticon. I should know better.

No sign of her having recently run down an anti-aircraft cruiser though. (a factual if most unfortunate incident from said wartime service).

I think Airfix assumes people don’t put aircrew in the kits now, so many companies don’t give any. Mosquito did have two crew so you have to supply your own if you want them in. ... Some reviews on web also might be of interest for you.
Whatever you do have fun!
🥳
Thanks Rod. I appreciate you answering. I still don't get why they'd only put one figure in the kit though (all or nothing eh?). ... I decide to place them in the Mossie. Thanks for the suggestions about reviews as well, and, yes, you're right, having fun is the main point of it all.
Answering you both:-
1) I'd rarely use aircrew because most aircraft actually spend most time on the ground unoccupied.
2) That said, I can justify "only a pilot" (and maybe a navigator or RT operator) by saying "he's on an engine test". Certainly this works for a Mossie with just a pilot.
3) Having said that, if you want a model of $type during "the big show" you do want all cockpit and defensive gunner positions to be occupied.

Hi Kenneth
I was only really meaning the Tempest my 5 variations. Wouldn’t do mk6 or mk2 variants.
Rod
Yeah, I read your post as being mark numbers, not series numbers.
-
Hi PMP
Enjoying the build. Can you answer a question, is this new kit suitable for easy conversion to later variants of the Tempest?
What I mean by later variants are series two Tempests, the box supplies the drop tanks etc so do you think kit allows this alteration. This kit is series one with cannon sticking out from wings. The versions I am talking about have the cannon internally in wing with slight part sticking out.
Hope you continue this build project.
Rod
Hard NO! The Tempest V and VI both have Napier Sabre engines, and the Tempest II has a Bristol Centaurus.

I can't help beyond that H70 Brick Red is used for large parts of the interior, so it's scarcely a "detail colour" and I think Tamiya also do a version.
Vintage classic Falklands Reisssue?

Bad taste alert - HMS Conqueror, which just needs to be a periscope optics head sticking out of a patch of sea?
