    Sets

I will just be getting started in TT, and will probably supplement some of what I do with what my father had in TT (he had some US TT rolling stock and locomotives from the 1950's or so) For me, the set is going to be the starting point, in that I'll get the loco, coaches, track and all to start my layout. I'm glad Hornby went and made a whole range, kind of the Frank Hornby tradition of being able to be kitted out with a whole system and not just a set and a few extra bits of rolling stock.
  2. I just got an email that the Tri-Ang Railways Remembered RS48 The Victorian train set I preordered is now on the way to me here in the US! I'm really excited, as I have an original Lord of the Isles set but wanted to experience getting a new one in the box! Has anyone else gotten one? If so, how do you like it?
  3. Thank you for the fantastic photos! I am really impressed with how the TT:120 range is looking! Definitely looking forward more to getting the set I preordered!
  4. I definitely will! Whenever it is released and I get it, I'll probably do a YouTube video as well about it, show what it looks like and how it runs!
  5. Just took the plunge and preordered The Easterner set! Have to go back through my late father's collection and see what US TT things he had! Looking forward to this!
  6. I was able to get a ROW free membership. I started to register and realized it was UK only. When I removed that from my cart, it came up with other similar items, which had the ROW free club membership. Mod edit: Good to know Ed, thanks for posting. R-
  7. I was just thinking of that as well! I hope they ship worldwide, as these look to be website exclusives so far.
  8. I love how it all looks! Having always been fascinated by TT (here in the US, TT had a period of being fairly popular, with some beautiful items being available) I may give it a try. I'm a collector/operator of any gauge anyway, so I'm looking forward to it!
  9. Maybe because it will have Sam doing the Hornby trains trying to pull him? <sarcasm mode off>
  10. Indeed. Over here in the US, about an hour from where I live, there was a man who had a Christmas museum, and one room was a huge train room. In the middle, above a huge G Gauge layout, he made an O Gauge loco and cars running upside down with an upside down Christmas tree in the middle of that. I saw that about 6 or so years ago, and he opened the museum quite a bit before that.
  11. I started to watch episodes of this over here in the US, as a couple people uploaded them to YouTube (I can't see them any other way due to geoblocking!) So far, I'm really enjoying it overall, in that it's showing what goes into developing and designing a new item (including adding the water-based smoke unit, which I've seen in battery-operated train sets for a while now!) I'm about 50/50 on the spotlight segments on modellers, with some being nice to see and others evoking a bit of a cringe from me. For those who think Sam's segment was a step down, you should see more of his YouTube channel (I ended up unsubscribing, in that he's kind of lost the idea of the fun model trains should be and has become a little snobbish, on top of his experiments like running an electric train through a pool of water) But overall, it's a good series so far. Loving the looks at Airfix and Corgi so far as well! Although I'm in the US, my family's old hobby shop had lots of Airfix kits (which my dad always recommended to customers), Corgi die-cast and Hornby trains!
  12. I found what turns out to be the Hymek Freight Set, R876, but one that was offered via John Player cigarettes! Set is in beautiful condition, looks to be hardly run, if at all! Complete with No. 20 catalogue, all track, battery controller. Wheels hardly have any wear, gorgeous set!
  13. That looks fantastic! I'll definitely be keeping an eye on EBay for when this comes up! I'm definitely interested!
  14. Any word on the ROW membership? I keep trying to renew, but it keeps saying it can't add the membership to the cart!
  15. I'll keep trying to renew mine. I just went in and selected "Renew", but the order summary showed 2020 HCC membership. I have a week or so before my membership expires, so I'll try again in a couple days.
  16. Worked out some money, and along with my preordered Beatles Yellow Submarine Eurostar train pack now shipping from Hatton's, I also purchased the 00 Hogwarts Express set and on Etsy found an unopened Night Mail Express set (looks like late 1980's or early 1990's?) for a fantastic price. Looks like I will have quite a choice to make for under the tree running this Christmas!
  17. Also Glad (as it sounds like) that yours didn't brake aswell - PHEW 😆 (Wipes his forehead!!!) Have to be careful when doing stuff like that - old plastic can be brittle!!! Sounds like it has been through many hands though!!! @ EdMarra You have just unwittingly just answered a question that I was been wondering for a long time (just to change the topic slightly from the O. P.) You said... Well I have 2 R6776 BR Conflat & Container (1 which came with R3789 - Sovereign Range - 'The Station Pilot' Train Pack & R1244 - Signature Range - 'East Lincs Special' Train Set (b. t. w. I have review both of these on my YT Channel!!!)) - did you mean this 'double-sided tape square'... B/c I did wonder during my review of both products what that little white piece of paper was!!!???!!! Honestly, I don't have one of those, so I'm not sure what the section on the frame is that you highlighted. But in The Wanderer set - turns out I did have one of these sets from when Argos had it last year (a friend was over there on business and sent it to me a little before he returned home) and the crate is separate, with the bracket not attached to the lowmac or crate. It's a separate piece, like a couple other recent Hornby sets I've gotten. I never attached them, since that tape can be horrible to deal with in removing, plus the lowmac won't go back into the original spot in the box with the bracket attached!
  18. Yours must be a used one, as the ones that come mint, in box, have that bracket included, but with a double-sided tape square that you take the paper off and adhere the bracket to the lowmac if you want, but it isn't adhered out of the box. I say that because all the ones I have are mint, from the box, and have not put the bracket on the lowmacs. I don't say what I say for the fun of it, either. I've gotten enough of these, and all have the bracket not attached.
  19. Actually, the yellow crate is not glued on. It's a separate item, so it can be removed of need be. It may have a plastic bracket you can place on the lowmac to adhere the crate, but as it comes, the crate is separate.
  20. Wish the Aldi shops here in the US stocked these! I've always loved store exclusive train sets for some reason. I'll have to see if anyone I know can get me one and ship it to me here!
  21. Mine just arrived via DHL, and only a few days after ordering. What's incredible is: I'm in the US! I'm working now, but will be opening it up and giving it a run as soon as I finish my work day! And being a Friday, I know what I'll be running for a while on my layout! This may be also what runs under our tree this year! This was my Christmas present for myself this year, so I'm very happy to have gotten it so early!
  22. I'm looking forward to it! Just placed my order for one of the Add On Pack Christmas Hampers, both as my Christmas present to myself this year and due to the fact that I don't have those coaches or a J15! What's in it is perfect for me, and I can't get those items individually for a lower price than that!
  23. Finally located the last Flying Scotsman I needed to have for each era it was issued by Triang-Hornby or Hornby! Found a 1976 set on ebay which ended bidding at only $50.00 US (that's where I am). Has everything in the original box, but the main reason I got it was for the Scotsman with chuff sound! Looks almost new, including the sandy patch on the metal inside the tender for the chuffing! Got her running today with all the set accessories up: cardboard tunnel, station with waiting room, level crossing, etc. Great way to spend a rainy Sunday!
  24. I have the Hornby military set from the 1980's/90's, which has a Hornby diesel shunter, a couple of lowmacs with military vehicles, a fort with military sounds, soldier figures, etc. That set has the Life Like Power Loc track included with it, as I think the Dinosaur one from the same period had as well. You'll have no problems.
  25. Mine was supposed to be here this week, but the shipping service put my address label on some engineering book supposed to go to someone else! I've sent an email to Hornby about it, hopefully they can rectify this!
