  1. Ayup Dominic, I used to think that too, but simply typing in ‘RAF roundels’ got me German aircraft and all sorts non-RAF. Same as any reference to ‘Mosquito’ or ‘Coastal command. Or ‘1/72 RAF’ anything. I mean, come on !
  2. Thanks for that heads-up Ratch but Hannants site is well, rubbish ! I’ve got the letters but roundels ? Not yet !
  3. It certainly is Ratch. The wings were a bit non-fitting but I got there with them. Jon, the decals broke up instantly as soon as the backing lapsed got wet. True you don’t expect, but well, it’s Trun, innit ? And thanks Ratch for the heads-up. I can get on and order them now. Cheers mate.
  4. Ayup all… it’s mad I know but I’m stalled on my Airfix MKVIII Mosquito, QM-D. Because as soon as I dampened the backing on those Trun decals they fell apart. Now, I’ve been pumping various search terms in Hannants search engine and I just can’t get a sheet of 1/72, red letters and the correct roundels for said aircraft PZ 468 to appear onscreen. Can anyone help pls with the correct search term or a sheet number. Thanks. I’d like to get her done.
  5. Whether anyone likes it or not, model making is the oldest recorded hobby in history. And is vital even for the awful infrastructure that’s built today.
  6. Ayup All, Absolutely Ratch. But I’d have to say generation-s. And we’re lucky to have Adam as well, to carry on his Legacy. Blue Skies Roy.
  7. Like everyone else, the Chinook, Liberator and Bulldog seem the be ‘The Jewels’ of the release list. I have an interest too in the QB Firefly and Tiger…
  8. Latest Airfix are the HO/OO Windmill and Loading crane… I was thinking of a ‘Camberwick Green’ type Diorama- ‘Treddles Wharf’ but the kits are a bit too much unfortunately.
  9. My box was ripped but a call to Customer Service will get it replaced so I’m told.
  10. Ayup All, Don’t worry about ‘failing’. We all do, we’re human and it’s part of the human condition. If you can work out why you ‘failed’ at something, and not do it again, you’ve won. If you do fail again a second time, ask someone you trust to look at what you did and ask them to see if they can work it out and give you advice. But never give up, and keep trying. If you don’t, that’s when you’ve lost. And you’re good enuff to win ! As the song says, ‘pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again !’ Good Luck. Good peole will always be there to support you. Even if they’re not family.
  11. Ayup All… I’ve just treated (is that the right word ?) myself amongst other things, to a bag of ‘Airfix tea’. As a committed PG man myself, (Don’t answer that ! ) and having paid for it, anyone here tried it ? Are we PG or Yorkshire tea type strength ? And what’s the coffee like too ?
  12. Is there a Discount for the new Sea King for club members at all ? Would it help sales if there was ? Just an Idea. Help people join the club with decent discounts for new modellers ?
  13. Ayup All… Santa Maria and The Mayflower… thought I was short a piece of the Mayflower as I hadn’t noticed the blister was cracked under some tape, but I took it home in a bag and the part was within that, so lucky…I want the Airfix Titanics, but I have ten others already !
  14. Ayup All… I’ve just asked if one’s renewal date and membership number can be added to one’s ‘Account’ details as I find I can’t remember when I renewed. And thus take steps before when my membership is up. I wasn’t reminded by the club on its last expiration and so had to re-register to be able to get the discount on my new Superkit Spitfire. That’s a bit shallow, but one needs to know in advance so one can renew in time, so one doesn’t miss out on a clubkit meteor, say.
  15. Cheers Ratch. mad isn’t it ? I was expecting a surprise like Dale said, but not quite this one.
  16. See above. No instructions in my new ‘Superkit’. Now am I being funny if I complain or not ? I wonder if anyone has an answer ?
  17. Ayup Ratch… After having not being reminded of my membership lapsing ( ! ) I have still indeed renewed and ordered a Spit. I am very glad I can do JE-J, and will get some masks off Mel mayfield to complete it. It will be my next aircraft build in a crowd of figures ! My only problem with this release has been frustration at a lack of news. You explained lead times so many years ago to me and I got it first time, even if I didn’t like it. It’s just that one can’t squeeze it into the build schedule if you don’t really know when it’s coming. I’d have REALLY liked one on my table for Telford is all. And at times Airfixes communication is woeful for us ordinary punters. However, all’s ‘sorted’ even if I’ve been somewhat impatient and frustrated. And of course, having said that, I can’t wait to see you at the big one. Take care.
  18. unfortunately Ratch, I can’t be bothered any more to put up with a lack of news about how things are progressing with production and have given up waiting. I shall never be bothered to ask or care again, and will simply wait like everybody else until I see boxes on a shop or vendors shelf. With all the best will in the world. Tonight they’ve lost another £170 in sales from me, and I really really don’t care about their very very poor communication methods. I shall only dip in when I can be really, really bothered from now on, Like many who post here. I don’t care how many times Dale and whoever sit round a table talking about the old days and their current excuse for lack of product. Airfix for me are now one of the also-rans and not a seller of premium, available product, and I shall not promote them as I used to from my tiny corner of cyberspace. They’ve simply cooked their own goose for me from now on. And From now on all I’m only interested in like many many others is when I can buy said stock. If it’s something I’d like to build. I do hope the Covid build wave has not petered out for them. They still need it desperately.
  19. Ratch, sincerely Decal options don’t concern me. I’m interested in when the kit is available and I have to pay for my brace of them. I actually want to build one immediately I get them even though I have over a dozen kits of all types on the go. I understand about lead times, recessions, acts of the almighty, giant octopi and container prices. And again they don’t concern me. It’s been 8 months now and I have better things, which will appear days after I pay for them, to arrive. So Airfix, what’s happening ?
  20. Auto All.. The seemingly lack of news about this one is deafening… is there any news or have I missed it all again ??
  21. Ayup Campbell... sorry to hear mate. Sounds like old stock paint if it’s dried up. They do generally take a long time to ‘go off’ but if the air gets in, you’re done. I’m so sorry to hear that it’s spoiled your return to modelling. It’s not always like this. I suggest that if you’re making a new hobby of it, and I hope you are, get some basic colours. Black, white, silver, dark earth and interior cockpit green with the RAF dark green. so that you can just dispense with the pots. Unfortunately the post is overstretched because of online buying. Enjoy your modelling.
  22. Ayup... Here’s the predecessor in all her Glory... a million plus sales, Soon to be joined by her State of the Art Superstar to be... Enjoy.
  23. Ayup... Well Ken, for whatever mad reason, JE-J hasn’t been put on the decal list. But the aircraft that became it, A-EB EN398, is. I don’t understand why not as it would pair perfectly with the 50-year old 1/72 Veteran ‘Vintage Classic’ that is JE-J. Maybe they’re not proud of their heritage ? I don’t know why they should be. Maybe the new management doesn’t wanna be associated with the million plus seller as it’s so relatively basic, (but brilliant -I first made it when I was six or seven- and I Love it) Or maybe the decal man likes Invasion stripes more ? Who knows ? I can think of one decal man who’s worked for Airfix allegedly, potentially kyboshing that option, but then again, the options shirley have to get thru the Marketing and development director ? Who knows. Thank god for aftermarket though. Mal is already here pressing the flesh ! And wallets no doubt.
