  1. It's the most hideous thing ever ..... and you have to get it in three issues ( 100 pounds each ). 1st issue gets you the front of the engine, 2nd issue gets you the tender and the 3rd issue gets you an equally horrid coach. You get the track and controller for "free".
  2. I had my azuma dcc fitted upon purchase and had the dummy engine on the track on its own to change the rear lights so they showed red going forward and white in reverse ( as per real life ). I have a hornby select controller though and the good folk on here told me how to do it and what part of the instructions it was under. Hope you get it sorted !
  3. Seeing the end of horror express reminds me of the ending to the cassandra crossing film !
  4. He laid that track at a fantastic rate as well ..... no dodgy fishplates or anything lol
  5. L&Y shunter - if we're having a birds custard van we need a banana van too ..... not christmassy but goes together lol
  6. I don't see why we shouldn't. They have special days for just about everything.... for example today is national green bean casserole day and national Dorothy day ( according to Google anyway lol )
  7. I purchased one of the R3698 sets from a model shop and was told that they also had a different paint finish. Think the R3698 had a matt finish but I can't remember off hand.
  8. Not everybody keeps all the boxes ....... there's countless listing on ebay of people selling them for carriages, wagons or even the sets ! Personally I keep mine in case I sell anything but each to their own :)
  9. Out of curiosity how many flying scotsman models have hornby released over the years ? I started out about 4-5 years back building my layout and a flying scotsman was the first set I had with coaches / oval of track etc.
  10. What's people's thoughts on these sellers ? On one hand they obviously didn't want the model in the first place and wanted to make a profit stopping those who did from being able to order one ...... on the other hand with the cost of living selling one for 3 times its RRP if people are willing to pay it is handy ??? Or just not buy them at that markup so theyre stuck with a model they didn't want ???
  11. As far as I knew they were although living in the area I've always gone to ROS ... Olivia's has always said their dispatch times are around the one week mark as long as I can remember.
  12. Sorry for the numerous posts ..... tried sending it several times but it didnt seem to like it then it accepted one but posted them all. If the mods could remove them I'd be grateful.
  13. I've been given these two engines by my dad and need help identifying them please as I intend to put them on sale. The green GWR engine I recognise as the engine I had as a kid on my first train set. It's a hornby engine, I know its oo gauge and I'm guessing 25-30 years old. The black engine I cant find any identifying marks. I'm guessing oo gauge as its roughly the same size as the other. Both are non runners ( they failed the battery test lol ). If anyone knows these engines ( year / make etc ) I'd be grateful for your input. Thanks in advance !!
  14. Just received an email from hornby about feedback sessions via zoom. There are two sessions ..... one for existing modellers and one for people interested in getting back into the hobby. However reading it looks like there will only be SIX people allowed per meeting. I find it rather odd that if this is correct that hornby have spent money commissioning this research via an external group if the views expressed are only those of six people ..... or did I misread this ?
  15. Someone asked me about my train set so I corrected them and said model railway lol.
