Well I think if nothing else the problems over the last few years has proven that we all need sources of practically everything closer to home, however kits are made in India... And the cost of transportation is down to a global shortage in container ships.

Maybe your best bet would be to try some of the Airfix related forums, there are a few collectors and enthusiast forums where its possible that someone may be able to help with a missing part like this, though it may be a tall order I think its worth a try... Sounds the same as what happened with me, use your keyboard return/enter key instead and results should come up...

When using the Forum search window I get results showing all forum posts related to the subject, so it does seem to be working ok... however I did have to use the enter button on my keyboard, as clicking on the search symbol did nothing to activate the search... though this is not uncommon in my experience.

HMS Warrior(1860) possibly in 1/350 scale or 1/400 to match the Mary Rose, Full Rig, Full Hull model... would I think be worthwhile... Followed by Turret ship HMS Captain (1869) lost in a storm due to instability issues, but then the Wasa/Vasa is quite popular and that never got out the harbour for the same reason... and HMS Victoria (1887) perhaps one of the greatest disasters of the Victorian navy... Indeed almost any of the ships of the Iron clad fleets of the world would make great subjects... I think generally though ships have to be relatively famous (battles, disasters) or infamous (Graf Spee) to be worthy of an expensive tooling... Ok so I just made a post with two images copied from elsewhere on the internet (a couple of sopwiths pics credit belongs with the owners) they showed in the post which is now waiting for approval (please delete if not appropriate) it was simply a matter of copy the image and paste in the forum post window... Edit ok so their there now, can anyone else see them ? both images are not hosted by this site and both display as Jpeg/Webp when opened in a new window.

In the old days it was suggested that you use a small screwdriver heated gently over a candle to squash the pins flat, stitching or stapling was an alternative... These days certain flexible CA glues should work well, remember to use a degreasent first though, depending on the type of plastic. That aside I use a temperature controlled soldering iron often for this kind of work depending on the type of plastic involved... you can practice on pieces of sprue first... Should be able to find one on Fleabay for a few quid... wink

I dont think its anything to do with the browser, the problem must be in the permissions that have been set for the forum... I can posts loads of external links that all work, but image links will not show pics, even though I can see the code clearly for multiple types in my posts... and this has nothing to do with my browser. On Image size, the forum has a fixed image width and this is equal to the width of the text in the forum window, this has no relation to the physical size of the image that is being shown, a 300kb image will show the same as a 12MB one although depth will vary depending on the aspect ratio... The issue here is the download time the wrong image format has been set for the forum, which means that large images will take a great deal of bandwidth before the viewer can fully see them, depending on how fast your internet speed is and how many images there is in the forum page thats being viewed. I suspect the external image links are being blocked and dont show up in the censors list. thinking_face

I suspect that what were dealing with here is an automated file managment system that renames, reformats and saves files as appropiate, reformatting an image is really just a one click thing (save as) in photoediting software (renamed in this case to forum_image followed by an image code a series of letters a numbers) but automated of course. I assume you mean the Me 109G6 and yes is saves as a jpeg the only one I can see in in the entire thread, most curious...

H peebeep, can you supply me with a link so I can check that, I checked this with two browsers on multiple forums and seems to be the only one where this is occuring, so I dont think this is related to my system software or browser as a result... but needs some further investigation obviously... wink

I was wondering why some of the images on the site were so large and slow to load, it seems like even if you upload images as a more user user friendly format such as Jpegs the site will reformat to Pngs automatically... This means that a Jpeg image of 128kb (what I originally posted) will become a 605kb Png.. roughly an increase of 450%+, with the resultant increase in bandwidth usage and hence a slower download for those with slower internet connections... like me. Seems to me that airfix are shooting themselves in the foot here... Certainly it effects my viewing of image heavy threads on the forum as it takes a huge amount of time for many of these larger images to download, without any increase in quality I might add... Or am I missing something... thinking_face

Would suggest registering with a model forum where they do allow private messages (Oops I almost posted "Massages") (seems a bit draconian that airfix doesn't allow this but their forum their rules) at least then you can get a result there are a few, including the Airfix Tribute forum wink

I now find the sign in issue has been resolved as ticking the Keep me signed in box does actually work now, ie I dont have to sign in everytime I visit... Dont seem to have a problem with images either... now I just have to find some way to improve my memory... thumbsup

Test pics, old Airfix figures (1970s) painted many years ago with some conversions+additions, 1990s humbrol acrylics 30ml pots mostly... weapons scratch and Ecsi FFL donations, I prefer to use the whole arms + weapons when doing this sort of thing... packs and some helmets press molded using milliput mould and melted sprue, tank and cannon barrel by Hät... wink

Test for posting pics... Just an old Roland I did many years ago research nil... paints whatever I had but mostly 1990s Humbrol acrylics in the large 30ml pots then my preferred paints...I do wish airfix would do these now...

Well Ive used hobby boxes, basically just a light weight plastic toolbox with a single full length removable tray in the top, pick one that suits the size of your paint etc collection and then some or buy two (in this case stackable ones are better), top tray is divided into smaller partitions then a regular toolbox and can be used to hold knives, blades files, tubes of glue, spares etc... these I find to be an ideal solution for regular use where putting everything away later is necesary... Paint brushes are stored seperatly in a ceramic tumbler, heads up... Otherwise a good large stout "shoe box" you can always modify it and put a cardboard tray in the top for small parts etc... Of course theres lots of throw away containers out there that can be repurposed as well the only limit is resourcefulness... wink
