  1. Oh dear God!! People will find anything to complain about these days....
  2. The October edition of The Engine Shed is now live.... A lot of pics.... https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/all-that-glitters-is-gold Enjoy the read 😀
  3. Hornby seem to be constantly updating the link to their September edition of The Engine Shed.... Here's the third (and hopefully final) link incase the one I posted above is not working anymore https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/developing-hornby-far-wide
  4. The September edition of The Engine Shed was quite a heavy one. I'm extremely pleased. It was sad to hear about Paul Isles' departure from Hornby. But I wish him well. Glad to hear the blog will continue under a new writer. The Mk1 coaches look really nice. I want to order the Intercity one, but I am not sure if Hornby has done other Intercity Mk1 coaches to match it? I do have a ViTrains Intercity Class 47 that needs some suitable stock. All I can say about the LNER W1s is that they are jaw dropping...gorgeous is an understatement. The ones I'm most interested in are the Class 91 and APT-P samples and they look mighty impressive. I wish I could afford a 5-car APT-P set. Already have a Class 91 on order. Looking forward to receiving it in early 2021. Glad to hear that ARM has selected Hornby to be their distributor for the UK and EU. That C38 is on my wishlist, but I would like a streamlined version.
  5. Well...somewone has to moan about something!
  6. The heavyweight September edition of The Engine Shed is now up.... A lot of content and some interesting news... Enjoy the read - https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/news/the-engine-shed/developing-hornby-far-wide?fbclid=IwAR2X-foqwDj7-CzDk8KD5Wh5mEQDN0aYJ1hSXBo_bYsD8_EOHKc8aplNN6Q
  7. No they haven't by the looks of it. You can couple them on the track as well. Any flat surface will do.
  8. I don't recall Hornby-Arnold ever changing the couplings on their N gauge Brighton Belle. It's been the same since release day.
  9. R8627 Station Row Cottages... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-Skaledale-R8627-OO-Gauge-Building-STATION-ROW-COTTAGES/353180274859?epid=1783069021&hash=item523b2f50ab:g:6pUAAOSw5T5fO7qm

  11. It is a pity to hear about Hornby & RoS falling out. However it's not the end of the world. There's a lot of other smaller model shops and retailers to order and pre-order from. I personally moved all my pre-orders to RoS 4 years ago as I found their prices to be the best. However in the last few months their customer service and attitude has gone down drastically (based on personal experience). I was slowly starting to move pre-orders elsewhere since. I'll still use RoS, but just not for all orders.
  12. Once again, there's a lot of sources online where you can get an ETA on Hornby products. Not just the catalogue. I don't think how hard you work gives you any chance to act any different.
  13. There's enough of information online stating the reason why that particular model was delayed And acceptable reasons too. They also openly stated how they managed to get the NHS Class 66 done fast. So it's not really a mystery.
  14. Thank you for pointing that out. Never though of that. I thought links will automatically become clickable. Cheers!
  15. Hey! Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Been taking care of some family medical emergencies. Thanks LC. What a heavy blog, full of content. The works images of the Hush-hush are simply spectacular. And it's good to learn more about how the images are rendered. Loving the artwork of the Hush-hush, A2/2 and A2/3. It's good the see progress made on the Std 2 as well. The approval samples of the BR 9F "Evening Star" look superb. I hope Hornby release it again with the same level of decoration but not as a limited edition.
  16. @BradleyR Hornby has had quite a complicated past in terms of merging with other companies and so on. In the 1960s I have no idea if it was Hornby, Triang, Hornby-Dublo, Triang Hornby etc etc...others are more qualified to answer that. However as for scale/gauge, since you said you live in Australia and bought the model from there, then all I can assume is that since Hornby did an Australian and Continental range as well, they would've marketed it an HO product, though it would've been OO. I have a photograph of a Hornby-Dublo A4 in the BR Green livery, but I cannot post it here as there's an issue with the forum and we cannot post links and pictures. I'm posting the link below but I have added spaces in between the website name, you can try and copy-paste it, remove the spaces and search. https://cdn . globalauctionplatform . com/72246579-c464-44d7-81b6-a5c4010a897f/fe30a727-419c-4025-bb41-b5bf5cb9442f/540x360.jpg Remove the spaces between the cdn . globalauctionplatform . com and try the link.
  17. I think you must be careful and not just respond just for the heck of it!!! From your post you clearly have no idea what an LNER A4 Class looks like (despite the OP describing it). The part of your text that I've highlighted is completely wrong and misleading. The "Flying Scotsman" is an LNER A1/A3 Class The "Tornado" is an LNER A1 Class The "Evening Star" is a British Rail Std 9F Class The "Duke of Gloucester" is a British Rail St 8 Class The Merchant Navies were an entire Class of 4-6-2 steam locos used by SR The "Cock O The North" is an LNER P2 Class
  18. Hi Audbr, Like it's already been stated, since you bought the loco s/h, you may want to give it a thorough check. Most often than not sellers give you incorrect information when selling products. The seller could've bought a defective loco and tried selling it without listing the issue or damaged it and tried selling it without listing the issue. Check your track to see if all the joints are fine? Check the front pony truck properly to see if it is sprung well and/or not missing anything. You also said you made a circle out of 2nd radius curve to run it. I suggest adding a few straight sections to make the track and oval and also have a proper base to put the loco on the track. Setting your loco down on a curved section can result it in not sitting properly and thus derailing. Make sure nothing is fouling the front pony. If you can, take some detailed photos of the loco, especially the driving wheels and pony and post them, maybe someone can help? I have a large Hornby LMS Duchess Class which is lengthy loco with a 4-6-2 arrangement and I actually tested it out on an oval of 2nd radius track laid out on my bed, yes my bed and it ran without derailing. So a smaller 4-6-0 loco constantly derailing can only be attributed to the track or an issue with the front pony. I don't think it's incorrectly advertised, if bigger locos can go over 2nd radius curves, I'm sure a smaller 4-6-0 can. Lastly, if you have space, try using 4th radius cruves and add some straights. Bigger locos are harder to place on a cruved section, especially when it's as tight as 2nd radius curves.
