  1. What about the all white TGV Atlantique - first two sets were painted in that livery. Jouef made a limited edition of 100 of these purely for the French market. I was lucky enough to obtain a four car set from Clarel in Paris and the additional eight cars from a chance meeting with the CEO of Jouef at a French exhibition. I still have this in my collection.
  2. Another manufacturer Wiking Modellbau has discontinued paper catalogues - they will only be available as a download to print in future.,
  3. As you say ellocoloco your choice. I agree about the moaners but these sorts are never satisfied.
  4. I would hate to pay that sort of money for the sound file to be so inaccurate. This hobby is fast becoming a niche indulgence for the rich.
  5. Thanks for your suggestion, the photo appeared OK from the camera but it was awful when downloaded to the laptop. Will try the brass wire although there is very little clearance on the KK mech. Am not surprised AC models do not have it is a 1998 item.
  6. Herewith photo of the coupler mechanism it is much longer than others of this type I have seen
  7. I have recently obtained very inexpensively the above with a broken coupler sheared off at the junction of the NEM box. I have tried to repair with cyano and epoxy but find that the coupler does not swing any longer which may have been the reason why it was broken in the first place. I can use the wagon at the end of a train but would wish to obtain a replacement coupler if available from some source - I should say that the wagon is of 1995 vintage and pre Hornby takeover - does anyone have any ideas ???
  8. My information concerning 2024 Roco Catalogues was I am afraid inaccurate. Their latest issue catalogue is freely available in Europe at no cost and it only seems to be Gaugemaster restricting the issue to a download presumably because of the cost of paper catalogues from Roco and the ever increasing cost of postage via Royal Mail.
  9. The small Jouef Junior range introduced after the merger with Lima were all in fact ex Lima tooling with the 3 pole circular motor and drive to one bogie see lestrainsjouef.
  10. ellocoloco - yes to the Spanish site foretrenes - I could not pick up your message for some bizarre reason - perhaps you could transfer your question to this site and I will give you a fast response???
  11. I think I can beat you to it ellocoloco - my Electrotren catalogues go back to their days of HO tinplate and Roco to their very first Roco-Peetzy monochrome item. Even Lima I have since their early days but must say have never seen one of their Spanish catalogues although I have in many other languages. Trouble is they are taking over my railway room (garage) but at least I know where to find them !!!!
  12. Could you please post this in the correct forum - Hornby International
  13. Surely non-UK items concerning the International makes of Hornby and their predecessors - Jouef, Lima, Hornby-Acho should be posted in the International Forum ?????
  14. Hear hear ellocoloco a man after my own heart I have cabinets full of old catalogues from defunct makes not easy to find on the net from my time as the Trades Officer of a wellknown continental interest society.
  15. You must be in the minority otherwise model train makers would have discontinued the practice several years ago. Roco still do seem to be the exception rather than the rule - ideally there should be both forms of information allowing freedom of choice particularly when makers only place a catalogue in their native language on the internet
  16. I have learned today that the Roco HO catalogue for 2024 is NOT to be made available in paper form only via Internet and presumably only in German. Strangely enough they are issuing a paper catalogue for their TT range purchased from Kuehn. Is this the end of paper catalogues?????
  17. This is the later form of Electrotren Catenary rebranded as Heico
  18. Hornby International 2024 Catalogue is out on the website www.railway,fr in full.
  19. I found that an economical way of powering LED building and street lamps if you just want them either on or off was to buy via ebay a mains to 3 volt DC plug in transformer/rectifier which can either be connected via a single pole switch or just left to plug in when lighting required. These items are reasonably inexpensive.I have powered over 20 LEDs via this method.
  20. Obviously a job lot from China - maybe Coca Cola paid for them !!!!!!
  21. I certainly agree with you Yelrow, I too have bought little in the last few years as you say the hobby is becoming a luxury which frankly might destroy it. I could not afford to have a third of my collection at todays prices. It is great to see the vast amount of detail these days, improved mechanisms and digital control but only the rich can afford them. I too like running older models, I still think that quality control in low cost areas of manufacture leaves a lot to be desired.!!!!!.
  22. This is what happens when product these days is made in low cost countries - quality control does not exist. They just turn out the item as cheaply as possible and hope that nothing untoward will happen to it in the hands of the customer. Bring back production to the UK but at twice the price ??? Food for thought!!!!
