  1. I've just picked up three quality kits to help pass the time, the first Kit I got is a 1/72 Scale Royal Navy MTB, series 5 model Kit No. 05280, it's the four torpedo tube kit, I'm looking forward to getting it started, however, I also picked up the 1/48 Scale Model Airfix Sea Vixen, I'd built the Trumpeter version, and although it's a good build, I felt it was a basic kit, and from lookig at the different Instruction sheets, I think the Airfix model is a slightly more technical kit, and to polish off my purchases, I picked up the Revell 1/72 Scale Model HMCS Snowberry, I'm a huge fan of the Jack Hawkins Donald Sinden Movie, The Cruel Sea, and so, I'm converting the HMCS Snowberry to the fictional HMS Compass Rose, now, my problem is, which one do I start first
  2. I used as many small nuts and bolts as I could cram in embedded in white tack. Hopefully it will be enough or else it will be modelled with the tail hook down! Just as a sort of tip, I built a 1/48 scale Gannet, and I crammed as much lead as I could into it, but it still tail sat, and so, I built it tail hook down, but the plastic tail hook couldn't take the strain, and so I used the metal nozzle from a bottle of that other makers glue as a tail hook, and it worked well
  3. I must have been a bit tired when I did my check, because I decided to have another wee look, and I've noticed that C17 on the sprue, can't be found on the instructions, can anyone fill me in about these ,well, additional parts. As always, any help is appreciated
  4. Hi Folks, Firstly, I like what you've done in painting yours as the night fighter version, I only hope mine turns out as good. Saying that, I've just bought this kit, and I've been doing the usual look through the plans and checking the sprues etc, and I've noticed a problem, Part C22 on the instructions gets mentioned at No.43 as a wheel leg strut, I've then got further into the plans, and C22 gets mentioned again at No.103/4 I've then checked out the sprues, only to find parts C23 and 24, but I've gone through the plans back to front, I've even got the Wife to check the plans, and I can't find anything about where these parts go. Any help will be appreciated
  5. I've got a 1/48 Scale Buccaneer sitting under the bed, and sadly, it's been there over a year, I just haven't got the courage to take it on, and now Airfix are producing a new 1/72 scale kit, it would have been so much better, had Airfix made this new model in 1/48 Scale. Do you think if we asked nicely, Airfix just might consider producing a new 1/48 Scale Buccaneer, so I'll start the ball rolling Please Airfix, with sugar on top, please produce a 1/48 Scale Buccaneer
  6. I used a Hornby product that ruined a 1/350 Scale Dreadnought I was building, give Hornby their due, they sent me some products to try and salvage the situation, sadly, the problem did not fix, but, I have to say Humbrol/Hornby stepped up, and as a Gesture of Goodwill, sent me the 1/350 Illustrious, and so, Thank You Humbrol/Hornby, I really appreciate that I'm going to enjoy the new build
  7. I would like to see the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Sea Venom in a 1/48 Scale Model, this is a kit that has been very much ignored by the major kit manufaturers, and after the actual Aircraft served the Country so well through the Royal Navy, this is an Aircraft deserves to have a model made
  8. And that is also the difference between Disabled People with only limited movement who like to build Kits, and someone who can handle the smallest of tools to build the most intricate of models, I happen to have limited movement, which means I suppose I'm one of the useless assemblers who is disabled then
  9. No, I never purchased a part built Kit, I purchased a brand new still in the box and the box still in the cellophane 1/48 Scale Model Buccaneer, and when it got to glueing the two halves of the Fuselage together, they wouldn't fit, they fitted where they touched, and so I've complained Thanks for at least reading my post, appreciated
  10. Under the Term and Conditions of Undertaking, any Company that buy's out another Company, legally takes on the responsibilities of the Company being bought out, and so, whoever it was that bought out Airfix, that being Hornby, Hornby by law, must take on any and all problems incurred, it's the law, they can't just say a Kit was produced before X.Y.Z date and wash their hands, Hornby in buying out Airfix are duty bound to take responsibility for faulty Kits, the Terms and Conditions of Undertaking is also there to protect employees of the Company bought out, to make sure that the buying Company just can't cut wages, holiday entitlement pensions etc, the Terms and Conditions of Undertaking were put in place to protect everyone, including people who buy goods, and so, by law and rights, whoever it is that actually owns Airfix, in this case, Hornby, they have to by law, resolve any issue arising from a faulty Kit made by Airfix Even if the Selling Company is British and the Buying Company is from another Country, the Terms and Conditions of Undertaking make sure that the goods, employees and finances are all protected, the employees rights are protected and the bills that may be owed to other Companies are protected, and paid, and that People like us who purchase Kits are also looked after, the Law is in place so no one can walk away from their responsibilities, and so, if Hornby are now the parent owning Company of Airfix, no matter when the buy out occurred, they are legally bound to right any wrongs, as in faults in Kits sold, even if the goods are purchased from a third party, Airfix, the brand name, are responsible, those in charge might not want to care, but, clearly, through the "Terms and Conditions of Undertaking" they have to do something, whatever that is As the Kit was purchased, even from a dealer, with the Kit half built, the dealer cant take back a half built Kit, and I have no option but to go direct to Airfix to resolve the problem, which Airfix don't want to do, they say they can't and wont do anything, it's tough luck but I need to accept Airfix decision that they wont do anything, I'll visit my local Trading Standards, and inform them I know of the "Terms and Conditions of Undertaking", Airfix for me are a disgrace, and have gone way down in my estimation, I'll stick to building Revell Academy and Trumpeter Kits from now on, even Kitty Hawk, have you seen the great F35 in 1/48 Scale they are making, fantastic, Airfix for me are way down the list, a poor relation of what they once were
  11. It might be good if ANY of the Kit Makers could produce a good quality Buccaneer, the one Airfix did produced, and can still be purchased, as I foolishly did, is absolute rubbish, the fuselage fits where it touches, and that's not in many places, I could rub the fuselage down and fill it here and there to make it fit together, but the detail on the bodywork would be lost, I purchased the Kit on ebay, no return, especially as the Kit is part built, I did e.mail Airfix/Hornby about the problem, but Airfix told me "tough luck", and have refused to help in any way, now basically, all I've got, if I decide to complete it, is a plastic toy only fit for my Grandchildren to play with, no way will it get to sit on the shelves beside my other Kits I really am unhappy an disappointed at Airfix, when I asked Airfix if there was anything they could do to help, I was told as it's an old Kit, 'Tough Luck' I just need to get on with it, my plea has fallen on deaf ears, and I have to say, I didn't think Airfix was that bad, I have had a couple of problems with Revell Kits, and I have to say, Revell on both occasions, stepped up and organised help as best they could, one an old 1/48 Scale Westland Wessex HAS Helicopter, Revell sent me the replacement parts within days of asking, and on the other occasion, Revell cpouldn't help with replacement parts, so instead, they asked me if I would like another Kit instead as a replacement, now that was Customer Service, it's just a pity that Airfix/Hornby couldn't do the same
  12. Airfix appear to tbe the same old same now, instead of being the Market Leader, as Airfix were for, how long?, it appears sadly Airfix are just mainstream marketers, especially when it comes to innovation and production, which is really sad, I grew up on Airfix, now I'm somewhat older, Tamiya for one, and most of the foreign producers get my business, especially on the 1/350 scale ships and 1/48 scale aircraft, and when I think of how shelves used to be stacked high with nothing else but Airfix, it's only the odd kit I purchase from Airfix now
  13. When you consider that Airfix were the market leader, it now appears Airfix is the market trailer, while other manufacturers are leading the way when it comes to the variety of 1/350 scale model Ships, I seem to remember Airfix had everything, now, I really am disappointed, and with the Royal Navy and it's newest Aircraft Carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth, we'll probably find that some other maker will beat Airfix to it and produce the kit, even though Airfix has already presented a 1/350 scale model of the Carrier to the Ship itself, come on Airfix, get your act together and get back to being the leader we all followed
  14. I'd love to see the 1/48 Buccaneer on the shelves again, I've got quite a few of the Royal Navy Jets in 1/48 scale, and I'd like to keep adding to the collection, what I really want now is a De H Venom and the Buccaneer, that would just make my collection even better, I've just picked up a 1/48 scale Sea Vixen, which i'm really looking forward to building, do you think if we kept up the pressure, Airfix/Hornby just might give in
