  1. I made some progress on this over the weekend. Here's the cockpit and crew... And here's the main parts assembled. I've done a bit of work on the seams but I have to say I'm feeling a bit lazy. Building this has reminded me why I've been moving away from classic kits and their raised panel lines over the last few years. I'll see what it looks like after some primer. I do have some nice wing root gaps to fill. Overall though, the fit was pretty good for a 1982 kit. Cheers!
  2. An interesting topic. I'd be tempted to paint my rings a steal colour, and then give them a wash with a brown/bronze wash or ink to get the heat stained colour.
  3. I switched from solely enamels to water-based acrylics about ten years ago as both my kids have Autism and highly sensitive senses of smell. I started with Humbrol acrylic but whilst some of them (I'm thinking hum#64, #90) painted very well, most of them didn't. When Hataka started releasing their paint sets, I jumped over to their blue and red lines - so I was a user of theirs from the get-go. Here is most of my collection I also use a selection of Humbrol, AK, Vallejo and Ammo depending on what colours I need. I Also paint Citadel Miniatures from time to time, so I have a far selection of Vallejo Game and Citadel paints as well. I have some Revell Aqua, Vallejo metallics and some others as well. Cheers!
  4. Not sure what all this sudden interest in night fighters is, but I'll play! Here's my old Airfix Defiant. If I recall, I used a resin replacement nose and I replaced the prop and exhausts from spare. I also increased the size of the rudder, fin and tailplanes, and replaced the ailerons. The decals were from the new Airfix Defiant kit. I really wish I replaced the wheels.
  5. That's a stunner - very nicely done! Well worth all the effort you put into it.
  6. Lots of lovely Defiants posted recently!
  7. Very nice! This is the old kit right?
  8. Coming along nicely!
  9. Very nice! I do like your background hanger and crew figures.
  10. Very nice although I do see what you mean about the profile.
  11. Very nice! You don't see too many of those built up.
  12. Fabulous! Never heard of that type before. I can't help thinking that putting a couple of guns on the Havoc might have been an idea.
  13. Great work Richard on what does seem a massively complicated kit.
  14. It was actually equivalent to a Canadair Sabre mk.4, as the RAF Sabre's were built in Canada not the US - Here's a link to an interesting article. I'm going to say, according to the article and wikipedia, is an F-86E (with a different engine). Which would make sense given the mark numbers on Airfix's box - F.4/F-86E. The (M) is just a designation that it was an F-86E build by Canadair when selling them to other countries. Hope that helps.
  15. Wow! That looks fantastic! Balsa hull? @Heather Kavanagh Great painting!
  16. Alas I already have multiples of the available kits in the stash, so I'll pass this time around. The Tiggie was an interesting choice.
  17. Very nice - I have the 1/144 versions - I be the 1/72 kits look fantastic.
