  1. I was about to be annoyed that I had no email, but found it in my junk! wasn’t sure I would get included in this first batch as I only preordered a few weeks ago. bring it on!
  2. Patrick Thistle it is then…. !! smiley
  3. Why is Potter controversial?
  4. Would be a real shame to break up High Fell. It’s a superb layout.
  5. That’s superb. Well done. I asked Simon about this a few weeks ago in a YouTube interview, and although he’s not the technical guy, we agreed that someone somewhere was bound to give it a try! Edit: just realised I’d already commented on YouTube! It’s old age you know….
  6. This seems a very fair price! Also noticed they have an arc or part segment turntable with servo. Link below. Would this kind of thing ever have been used in the UK? https://www.modellbahnunion.com/TT-gauge/TT-segment-turntable-with-servo-drive.htm?shop=modellbahn-union-en&a=article&ProdNr=MU-TT-B00069&p=99557.
  7. Really sorry to hear this. Are you asking for a refund or a replacement?
  8. Don’t fret over any of it. I guarantee that 99.9% of us who read are nodding at every single issue as we’ve all been there done that and still do these things to this day! Keep at it and enjoy.
  9. I’ve had this too. The loco seems fine for a few days. Then you go it and it’s moving very erratically. Then it shows connected via Bluetooth but nothing happens. No sound no movement. Usually unlinking the decoder and reconnecting works. Quite frustrating.
  10. Cant answer this but have the same question for the 08. I know it can’t take a speaker but would the stay alive fit? also, I wonder if they’ve overdone it a little. 9 secs of power is an awfully long gap for track power loss. Would a smaller, 2 second powerbank be both cheaper and easier to fit in smaller locos?

    TT price jump

If it isn’t a real price increase then it may just have been genius marketing!

    TT price jump

Thanks for that Rob, hadn’t realised that! On the assumption that a price rise is coming, I’ve grabbed a few new wagons and waiting room. Finally preordered the 08 too. Was hoping they’d come up with a BR Green but impatience got the better of me.
  13. Noticed yesterday that new wagons are in stock for TT. Came back today and prices have all jumped massively. Anyone know what’s going on? This is on way to spoil the good will very quickly…
  14. Agree with DB re direction of travel arrows. It messes with my head! Also, more than one throttle on screen at least for tablets. Appreciate phone screens are smaller and more fiddly. Loving it so far!
  15. If it’s of any interest I managed to shoe horn an 8pin txs into my venerable Bachmann 08… just. Speaker had to go in the cab, but it’s not really noticeable. Bigger issue was that the decoders in the Bach08 are mounted vertically behind the front radiator (?). And the new Hornby one was just an 1/8 inch too long. Was very tempted, as others, to snip off the seemingly unused bit of circuit board, but thankfully listened to that inner nagging voice saying ‘don’t be a fool!’ Instead I dismantled the chassis and removed just a smidge of a wedge from the chassis block at the front to allow enough space for the decoder and it seemed to work fine. Quite impressed with the sound so far and the performance is excellent.
  16. Expected mid April. Def not in March. Could be early April at best.
  17. Spoke with SK today (video won’t upload till next week, after editing) and as suspected it’s a no, for now anyway. Adapters are the only realistic way for now, space dependant. Plus one for the idea of hacking an existing model to get space! I had to take away a 1/8” notch out of the chassis block of my Bachmann 08 to get it to fit. Nice sound though!
  18. I am due to have a short interview with Simon K on Friday for MacTrains YouTube. I’ll ask him then if you like.
  19. Hi Brad it entirely depends on what you mean by ‘go digital’. If you want the new bluetooth digital chips (hm7000 stuff) then all you need is to order one chip for each loco you have. Then download the free app (called HM DCC) from the App Store for iOS. Android version not released yet but coming soon. I’m assuming you have a way of getting power to the track if you already have some TT120 models. If you want the older style non-bluetooth digital system (which means more manufacturers to buy from) then you also need one chip per loco plus a dcc controller. Hornby sell the Elite and the Select but other manufacturers also have their own versions. Hope that helps.
  20. Just downloaded it, but still waiting for my chip!
  21. Hi Great hobby! If you are just dipping a toe in the water, or expect to have more modest sized layouts, then I’d suggest the excellent new HMDC system. It is genuinely exciting to see Hornby bring this to market. If on the other hand you are already prepared to invest quite heavily and have the goal of a large and full featured layout, then by all means head for DCC. It has the added advantage of being already well established.
  22. Request for Improvement I am really enjoying the HM6000, and have now ordered an HM6010. Can I request a new feature? (I appreciate this may take some time, as it’s not anything dead simple) Having the ability to run some simple ‘routines’ would be great. Something for a simple layout, with a loco and train leaving the goods yard, stopping en route at a little halt, and continuing on to the final destination. All this could be handled by a simple “timer” at the controller: forward at 40% for 15sec, slow and stop. Wait 10secs, proceed at 30% power for a further 12secs, slow and stop at destination. Im sure this could be possible! And would be a fantastic extra feature.
