The British model shop is a dying breed when long established names like W&H Models vanished we knew there would be trouble as the sell direct cut out the middle man is one problem! In 1987 there were 18 model shops in Norwich now in 2018 there's one and that doesn't stock what you want, it doesn't do repairs and its so sad we are loosing these lost model shops! In Norwich lost shops include Galaxy Models, Anglia Toys, The Train Shop, City Models, Keller's and many more, these shops stocked various ranges and could order you models and did repairs which nobody does anymore! Its time to get away from the order direct from the manufactures lark, there must be local model shops and repair agents. The internet has obliterated the model shops, not helped at all by every manufacture selling direct this now can't be stopped but people must have a choice to go to their local model shop rather than the manufactures!!

The R52 jinty and the R59 3mt you can easily get a replacement loco body from Peters Spares or off ebay then fit it to the existing XO4 motor bogies and do these locos have a SYNKROSMOKE unit on board if they do contact Dapol and order some of their smoke oil this can be used with TRI-ANG smoke units and work well so do that ok my friend!! 😎 You can order at www.dapol.co.uk.

I have the Dapol loco too but it has a fault which im fixing so ill add this loco to the train too! 😎

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN has been made into two movies but Model Railway stock has been made by Tri-ang, Dapol and Bachmann so what stock have you got? I have the Tri-ang Jinty with smoke in GN & SR livery and i have the Dapol loco that was made in the Eighties in Northwich and this new Bachmann set so what have you all got? 😎

Dapol, Mega Steam, MTH and Seuthe Smoke Oils are all tested with all smoke generators including Tri-ang Syncrosmoke Generators i admit i use Seuthe oil but i have a Tri-ang Davey Crockett this is a Wood Burning with Logs in the tender not coal so you get the MEGA STEAM Wood Burn smoke oil its smells right for that loco! Yes there are fools who put Engine oil into a smoke unit its best to get the smoke oil you are happy with so i put on here the contacts where you can get them from so here they all are www.dapol.co.uk www.mthtrains.com, www.seuthe-damf.de shop around get your best smoke oil as Hornby dont make Smoke units or Smoke oil anymore so you need to look to these sources to get the smoke oil you need! 😎

MEGA STEAM and DAPOL would have to test their smoke oils on many locos as after all Hornby doesnt do any smoke oil anymore or make smoke units! Dapol now do an A4 with DCC digital sound and a working smoke unit this isnt a Tri-ang Syncrosmoke this is a Modern smoke unit so using Dapol smoke oil on a Tri-ang or Hornby smoke generator should be fine as using SEUTHE smoke oil! 🤔

I am not critacising Hornby as it is today this was a desision made by Exin lines Brothers hence Triang as Hornby then was Mechano Limited in Liverpool who made a track system fully compatable with todays Hornby Super six track of today and yes Super 4 will conect to todays Hornby track but you need the convertor rails!

This problem started with the Bakelite track then Super 3 then came Super 4 its wont connect with Super 6 without the converter rail as even Hornby Dublo MECHANO track made in the sixties will join onto Hornby Super 6 so why make an incompatable track when they purchased the Mechano range in 1966 it would have been easier if Rovex had carried on making the former Mechano track and Discontinued Super 4 as yes it is convertble with Modern track but you need those converter rails which are a pain so maybe keep your Super 4 but things have moved on as Triang will run fine on Hornby Super 6 track!
