  1. Cheers, and yes it's an old-school DC layout
  2. If it helps any, here's a photo of Hollybush Railway from above. Still a bit of a work in progress when you see it from this angle
  3. Brilliant work, that looks amazing!
  4. Another shout for Woodland Scenics medium grey here too, although I'm going to try varying it with other colours for the areas I've still to do.
  5. The Mk3 coaches have arrived, passenger Intercity 125 services began today with a run from Dalrymple to Hollybush
  6. A couple of Mk3s arrived today to add to my Class 43s. I'll be adding some more when the points from the locos and these coaches process, but this'll get me started on running a proper Intercity 125 passenger service πŸ™‚
  7. It was a year ago I started properly building Hollybush. I'd had a very small trial run in the corner of the living room to see if I felt like model railways and TT120 could be something that I could get back into, then took the plunge to build a proper baseboard. March 2023 to March 2024 in the photos. I'm amazed at how it's come on!
  8. This time it's worked out quite well for me for once. Could have been better, as I'd not long pre-ordered the HST, but I'd not pre-ordered coaches. I've put an order for two in on double points, then by the time the loco and doubled coaches points clear I can pick up the rest of the Mk3s I wanted for pretty much free
  9. Good stuff. I don't have any numbers to draw on, but what I can say is the number of people I saw at Model Rail Scotland looking very interested around the Hornby and Peco TT:120 stands. I'll take real life over YouTube any day.
  10. A wee update on that stiff out of the box bogie. First run it was derailing on radius 4. After a bit of running in, I've even had it going no problem on some radius 1. Running beautifully now πŸ™‚
  11. Is that the opposite of the Scunthorpe problem?
  12. That TARDIS sitting by the church must have been playing up again, HST running next to A1s and A4s? πŸ˜‚
  13. Thankfully minor ones that were straightforward to fix, probably got a bit bumped around in shipping. I've not touched any of the mounting screws, as I'm running DC I've not been in to fit any decoders. Sitting watching it run around the Hollybush branchline track just now and all seems to be well πŸ™‚
  14. It's here! Running in just now. Some minor glitches, out of the box the coupling on the non-motor loco had worked loose in transit and the coupling bar detached from the rest of the coupler, and it had a habit of derailing on bends. I've been able to sort the coupling ok and running in seems to have loosened the bogies up so it's stopped derailing. Once those were fixed, so far so good. Running well, head and tail lights are coming on fine on my DC analogue tracks. Looking forward to the coaches arriving.
  15. I've absolutely no time for YouTuber's like him. It's a great place if you stick to the nice channels, but there's so many clickbate trend chasing negativity driven trolls. Watching things like Mouldy Rasberry's channel, which is mostly just footage of his beautiful layout, was one of the things that got me into wanting to get back into model railways. The likes of this Locomotion Motion guy would quickly suck all the joy out of the hobby if I gave them any of my time.
  16. Just got word that my HST delivery is at my local DPD depo and should be with me this afternoon πŸ™‚ Can't wait to be adding my photos and video to this thread!
  17. Hope it runs as well as it looks, can't wait to see more of them in action as they all start to arrive πŸ™‚
  18. That looks excellent! I think it was your photos I saw on a Facebook group too, with a couple more from the instructions. Good to know from that that I'll get directional head and tail lights on my analogue one when it arrives soon πŸ™‚
  19. Hopefully not far behind the locos. Although in a way I'll be happy for a slight delay, then I can use the points from buying the locos to save a wee bit on the rolling stock. I guess we just say it's a few weeks of light engine driver training runs in the meantime πŸ˜„
