I believe that this set is used to extend the R140 gantry. This is an old set so you might need to hunt around. There are several other Hornby models with the same R number so you might get some different models showing on a search.

Have you considered adding a 3 more boards to the existing one that you have so that you can make a modular circular layout? I looked at these boards a while back when considering a layout and felt that they were easy to join together but decided to make my own boards in the end.

Maps provide great inspiration to me, these are then followed up by as many photos of the location that I am modelling as I can find. I do enjoy modelling locations that are close(ish) to me.

The Plymouth - Saltash auto service changed its formation during the day depending on load need. Some services were 2 coaches (loco then 2 coaches), others were 4 coaches (2 coaches - loco - 2 coaches). The loco would have come off the coaches for servicing.

As others have already said it does not look like Mazak rot. Attached is a picture of a Hornby Merchant Navy front bogie that had Mazak rot. It is very clear to see the expansion cracking and flaking paint.

The dongle acts like a bluetooth decoder, so you can only access it from the device that it is assigned to. Once assigned it can't be used by another device unless the previous device releases it (just like the bluetooth decoders).

I used a Hornby decoder in my County before swapping it for an HM7000 decoder. I did find it a pain to get the tender body off but managed it without any special tools.

The address that they give on the website is dubious. The postcode does not exist, the address is for a large retail park however the addresses in the retail park appear to be different.

Using an iPad Air 4 with the most up to date IOS it will generally give me an estimated time of 25 minutes but this rapidly changes and the actual time taken is between 11 and 15 minutes. When loading from the phone (iPhone SE2) the estimated time is 25 minutes but the actual time is 13-18 minutes. On the phone there are 3 locos in the engine shed on the iPad there are about 20, with a mix of tsx, tts and non Hornby sound decoders, non Hornby silent DDC decoders.

I don't. Possibly I was not very clear but I have a different fleet of locos on each device.

N gauge is a much smaller market with a couple of big players (in terms of the market) already present. Several years ago there may have been a gap that Hornby could have exploited. It is also possible that they were unhappy with the sales of the 5BEL that they produced via the Arnold brand.

I have used this software for many years now (both versions) and find it easy and fast to use however when printing out it can make the points a little shorter than they really are.

The colour of the light is wrong for older coaches but I have fitted them in Hornby MK2 coaches with no problems.

I had a new Hornby Elite turn up today direct for a reputable retailer. £160. Could not pass it up at that price.

I have used 2 apple devices at once with no problems having divided the fleet between them. It helps keep 2 children happy at the same time. I did make sure that the locos are only on one device.

When the problem first appeared I looked at the troubleshooting guide. This was a pointless exercise as it only seems to cover what to do if you can't initially link the decoder. Not what happens if you have a problem with controlling the loco after the link has worked. I have not had a problem doing this. My problems have always come after a successful linking. I was not fumbling pressing buttons (this comes across as exceptionally rude by the way) on kit that has been shown not to be working. I was initially trying to link the decoder to a device that I have seen to work in the past and the Hornby does list as not working. I only went to the iPad Air to check and see if I could rule out a faulty decoder as it was the only other compatible device that I have access to. As for Hornby stopping development on older IOS system, that would make sense. However I have been having problems on devices running IOS 16 but have refrained from updating to 17 having read the problems this has caused. I recognised the need to unlink the device before adding to another device and did this.

Yes I did search in the app. Maybe I should have said scan as that is what the app calls it.

As an update to the issues I have been having with my iPad Air. On Thursday I added another TXS chip to a loco and loaded this up using an iPhone. After a very brief bit of running I found that whilst the phone was able to "see" the decoder if was not able to control it (exactly the same problem that I had previously experienced on the iPad. I reloaded the sounds via the phone but had no joy so I then detached the decoder from the phone and tried it on the iPad and was able to "see" the decoder and get it to load the sound profile I wanted it to have. I also found that I was able to control the loco successfully. It seems a little strange to have had the same problem on 2 devices. Now what are the chances of the next 2 decoders will work successfully on the first device I try. I do wonder if I am getting some bluetooth interference in the house as when I was searching for the decoder the app found 22 other devices. It's all very baffling.

There is a railroad 110 in the catalogue and available for pre order. Given this maybe there is hope of sound to come for this.
