It's been a while since I did any work on this. I have these three Esso Tank Wagons, R1, 02656-3 and Dapol C36 packs and I have some Platform Figures 03625-2 that I can paint up...http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24764066/413342798.jpg

Hi Ratch, Just came across this thread.  Great stuff!  I enjoyed it immensely ....especially since I've just built the Esso Tank Waggon.  It's a cracking little kit isn't it?

Hmmmmm............. must interest my grandchildren in a railway layout!  Perhaps a couple of carefully chosen Christmas presents will do the trick!

Hi Patrick.

Don't be chicken; buy yourself the train set, do you really need an excuse. Maybe do a habour scene with your ships, I know the scales all wrong but it could be fun.

Remember we do this for fun.                John the Pom

PS. On second thoughts don't buy the train set as then we'll never see any more of your excelent model ships.

My grandkids quite enjoy modelling (when they have time), I'll post some pix elsewhere....

Well I don't seem to have much luck with railway kits lately. The Dapol kit has broken parts

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24764066/413354350.jpg

and a number of missing parts

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24764066/413354352.jpg

I have cut and bent a replacement sign plate.

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24764066/413354353.jpg

and I'm reconstructing the missing part of the ladder.

All three tanks assembled, there will be a substitute screwdown valve on the grey Dapol one,

I then had to scratch two vacuum brake cylinders that were missing from the Type 3 box.

I've used the metal wheels supplied in the Dapol kit on the Type 4 boxing

Hi Patrick, I've not done anything on the base for over a year, so no progress there. In fact there has been some damage that I need to repair. I did buy some scatter materials. Maybe I'll get back to it after my main summer holiday...

Thanks, I missed your comment before 😳

Today I started the old Airfix R403/04653-0 B.R. 2-6-0 Mogul Locomotive. This was acquired from Kitmaster and was in the range from 1971 to 1979 before the railway range of kits was sold to Dapol in 1985. This morning I primed the runners

Before putting the driving wheels on I sprayed black

The drive rods have yet to be painted

Hi Ratch

I was wondering what had happened to your taxal, glad to see it's back, and with another unusual build of a vintage Airfix kit. This should be interesting, I wa wondering if you'd put a loco in there some where. looking forwards to the continueing story.

Thanks for your interest John. Long Taxal was originally conceived as a portable static layout for shows and as a backdrop for photographing models on. I haven't done any shows for ages and the mojo has waned on the base itself. I had to move it out to the shed as it takes up so much room. I'll get back to it sometime...

The next set of works
