Club exclusive offers that aren't...

I visited the visitor centre / shop at Margate last week and was very surprised to find the supposedly club member only Tucano kit (the one in WW2 desert markings) available to anyone to buy and not only that, it was reduced to £8!

This same kit is shown as sold out and not available for club members on the web site...

So club members cannot use their vouchers to buy a kit that is only supposed to be available to them, but the general public can wander into the shop and buy it and at a reduced price as well.

What on earth is going on?

The Tucanos were not a club exclusive. They were a website and concession Exclusive (similar but not identical category of product). Therefore they probably were always stocked at the Visitor's Centre shop. The remaining Tucano on Airfix.com is also a website and concession exclusive rather than a Club Exclusive. These website and concession exclusives are available for purchase with the Club voucher but it is never only Club members who could buy them.

Just renewed my membership and recieved my £20 Voucher. Went to the club models section to find that there are only 2 models available, both of which I already have from previous years. By the way, the exclusive Club Kit Specialist Spitfires 1:48 - Airfix Club Special is not available in the club shop but is in the main shop at £9.99. What's going on? As a Hornby & Airfix club member for a long time, I'm feeling a little short changed. I know we get the 10% discount on all models but there is not much point in getting a voucher that you can't spend. Why not just give a voucher for the Airfix shop? 😀
