Reissued as part of Dennis Fire Engine & Old Bill Bus (09441) in 2005.

I bought the 06442 box on e-bay three of years ago.

Like the Type B Bus I built, lots of red plastic. The information printed on the instruction sheet gives little in the way of clues as to a period that this vehicle is representative of; vaguely mentioning the Great War and the Blitz of Coventry in 1941. The crews’ helmets appear to be Victorian, Merryweather type from 1901, in use until the mid-1930s. I didn’t wash the runners because I thought that after thirty years any residual mould release agent would have evaporated.

Engine assembled

Assembly to stage 2. The instructions say silver, but I chose Vallejo Model Air 71073 Black (Metallic), Vallejo Model Air 71072 Gun (Metallic), Vallejo Model Air 71063 Silver (Metallic) and Vallejo Model Air 71069 Rust (Metallic)

Sorry about the focus. The figures (like the bus) are a bit crude, the driver's left hand is a stump

I remembered I had some Airwaves AEM034 Floor Plate Waffle Pattern and decided to use this on the footplate

The chassis, sprayed Vallejo Model Air 71057 Black and the footplate silver

And to protect the paintwork, I put each one into a small zip-lock bag

Here's the basic coachwork sprayed red - what else

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24741124/412958625.jpg

The ladders were sprayed with VMA Wood then stipple brushed with VMC Woodgrain (Transparent)

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24741124/412958626.jpg

I've also sprayed white (hoses), black (chassis fitments), the metallic mix of colours for various parts and painted the gold parts with Humbrol Acrylic and VMC for variation

I've added chains and thread to the ladder

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24741124/412964008.jpg

Now I have to work out how it fits on the carriage

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL761/13303934/24741124/412964009.jpg

I'm guessing it slots between the parallel bars

I've re-sprayed the bonnet with Alclad Chrome
