If anyone generates a track plans book there are a few things (that have been lacking in most if not all previous versions) that need considering


1) make sure the geometry does line up properly and is not a 'fudge' that doesn't quite line up

2) make sure electrical issues such as reverse loops are mentioned/covered

3) if gradients are involved make sure that the current (available or planned) locos can haul a reasonable length of train up the gradient

4) if the layout is large enough to suit using more then one controller, for DC operation recommend the number of controllers, where to add insulated fishplates and where to connect the controllers


As track pans are often used by new modellers (which is also a core of the target market for TT:120) , each of these points can easily catch out the inexperienced
