Hornby locos with Z21

List your problems and members with a Z21 will help you resolve them. The more info you provide the better, else folk will be playing tennis questions back and forth.

Hi Alan, 

Are you usingthe Z21 with the app or Multimaus? I use the Multimaus with plenty of Hornby's Electrotren models with no issues. As RAF suggests, let us know what you need.

Hi, I'm using the Z21 with the app and a Samsung Android tablet.

My main issue is that I don't seem to be able to set the CV values with the loco on the programming track and in the Manual mode. The Z21 doesn't show the values onscreen it being a Hornby loco. How do I know that the values have been updated in the loco?

Alan, the Z21 doesn't care or know if you have a Hornby loco. It talks to the decoder. So we really need to know what decoders you are using.

Further to Simmo’s reply (& especially with you saying you are new to DCC) - have you purchased DCC Fitted locos (or installed decoders yourself)?

If you have purchased DCC Ready locos (or want to use older models that predate DCC) - they will need decoders installing in them to be compatible with a DCC controller. 

DCC Ready is an unfortunate descriptor, that simply means: includes a socket that a decoder can be plugged into.  
Only DCC Fitted indicates that it actually comes with a decoder: able to be used on DCC immediately.
