NWR-Gordon-4
MasterGamer575838, this Train Set was cancelled a few months after it was announced in January 2016. Silly set really. Train Set's are supposed to start you off to the hobby, but this particular R1199 The Platinum Train Set was going to cost £500.00 or £600.00, which is a lot to spend on the start to a hobby that you may not want to continue with. walkingthedog
I think I can see what Hornby were thinking. They were aiming the set a people starting out with a few extra pounds in their pockets and not wanting an 0-4-0 set but a couple of decent locos. Maybe after the announcement they realised that people like that would be able to afford to buy exactly what they wanted.
Howbi
Or maybe Hornby realised they would be asking for trouble by supplying a set with two TTS fitted locos controlled by the Select controller with all it's shortcomings at that time.........HB
NWR-Gordon-4
Perhaps Hornby thought they might not sell many, or it could be a slow seller, due to it's hefty price tag. GNR-Gordon-4 (HF)
